Web Series Wednesday – Candice

WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

I don’t know about everyone else, but where I live it has been raining all week. Whenever it rains I just want to cuddle up under a blanket and watch some television or a movie.  Thankfully, this week I was able to find Candice to occupy my rainy days. The main character Candice (writer and creator Sarah Levin) is a pharmacist who loves turtles and lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She is very direct and even more so passionate about her turtle named Frankfort. Candice has signed up for “Meet Your Match Indiana” to try and find the love of her life. Deborah (Rayshell Curtiss) is the founder of the dating site and runs the matches. She actually knows Candice from high school where she tormented our heroine, set her hair on fire and called her horrible names. So, in case you were wondering, Deborah is not a nice person.

Deborah is now obsessed with being the best and is currently the Number 2 rated dating service in Indiana. Deborah is definitely one of those people who would have the poster on her wall that reads “you don’t win silver, you lose gold.”  Right now, Deborah has a 99% match rate for her site, the other 1% percent are for people who died (If you ask me, I think Deborah killed them because they broke up and she didn’t want them to bring down her rating. To my knowledge there have not been any criminal charges brought).

Candice signed up for the service and has been unsuccessful. Due to her over achieving manic nature of always having to be the best (instilled in her by her parents), Deborah tries to salvage her rating and keep her dream of being Number 1 alive by using all of her efforts to find love for Candice. The true star of this series is clearly Frankfort who manages to steal every scene he is in.

Here is a brief list of facts I have learned from this series:

1. Being in a clown car with a bunch of clowns doing magic is very dangerous and can lead to death.
2. If you make too much eye contact with someone it can be seen as being very aggressive and will lead the other person to attack your throat (and not in the sexy way).
3. Vaseline is a gateway drug that leads to heroin.
4. Fort Wayne’s hero is Johnny Appleseed.
5. It is never okay to put a turtle on any part of your mouth in real life, no matter how badly you may want to.

Whether it is raining outside or completely sunny, I can guarantee you that Candice will make you laugh and if you didn’t already love turtles, after meeting Frankfort you will.
