WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Ogglibogg the Stone is a brand new animated comedy series about a vain and prideful royal stone named Ogglibogg. He rules the land of Ikley Boggington with an iron fist and a heart of stone.

Creator Joshua N Malik single handedly brought an exciting little series to life. He provides the voices for all the characters, including Ogglibogg himself, and does a great job of differentiating each of them. He also uses what I’m guessing is a small budget to his advantage, by taking the same physical title card for each episode and just scratching out the name of the one before. It’s an amusing gag that works both comedically and as a practical prop. Malik’s ability to utilize the simple things and add humor to them definitely comes in handy. His ingenuity is what really makes this series shine.

Ogglibogg the Stone has the perfect amount of absurdity and cleverness to be entertaining. For me, it was reminiscent of the 90’s cartoons you’d catch on Nickelodeon later on in the night. Unique, but strange, something you’ve never seen before but has an odd sense of familiarity to it as well. The theme song is almost annoyingly catchy, playing itself on repeat in my head long after I was done watching the show.

The episodes are short and sweet, only about a few minutes long. It’s the perfect length for a short set up before the punchline, and the jokes are so silly you can’t help but laugh at them. It’s one of those shows you can turn your mind off for a bit and watch casually to unwind. And sometimes that’s exactly what you need. I also appreciated the fact that there were warnings at the start of every episode clearly stating that this series may look the part, but isn’t actually for kids.

If you need a quick laugh during the day, love supporting independent artists or you’re just looking for some lesser known shows that are surprisingly entertaining, give Ogglibogg the Stone a watch. You won’t regret it.
