WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

One Goode Man is a brand-new black web series about failed relationships, the connection between a father and son and trying to find love in the new age of dating. Follow the story of Joshua Goode (Stevie Baggs Jr.) as he navigates life and his legacy after serious marriage trouble turns him into a single father overnight.

I’m always on the hunt for new shows. I love finding hidden gems, whether it be directing, writing or acting wise and I feel like I came across something truly special with One Goode Man. It’s the perfect mix of drama and authenticity with an incredibly strong first episode that left me wanting more.

The standout scene for me was when Josh picked his son up from school – a very simple interaction that showed off the heart of the series. Something about their back and forth seemed so natural and their dynamic throughout the scene, from Josh’s bad freestyling along to the music to Josh Jr. begging to stop for ice cream, was extremely realistic. Healthy relationships between fathers and sons, especially single black fathers, isn’t something that’s showcased very often on television so it was great to see it explored here. It was apparent how close the two are and I imagine it’s the most important relationship throughout the rest of the series.

Only the pilot episode is available at the moment, but the story is promising with more to come. The production team behind One Goode Man is currently raising funds so they’ll be able to provide more content and release additional episodes from the series. If you want to see more, and you definitely should, check out their website to learn how to donate and support.
