WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Producer Alice Shy has partnered with Series Creator and Writer Reece Borden to bring the story of Texas and Alexis to life. The series follows the titular characters, two ambitious college students, as they try to navigate the ups and downs of their lives, discover who they are and strengthen an unbreakable bond. This feel-good comedy takes inspiration from classic shows like “Seinfeld” and cult hits like “Schitt’s Creek” to bring a campy and colorful new show to the world.

Texas and Alexis are two young minorities, a queer man and a black woman, making this a coming age story to which current teens and twenty-somethings can really relate. The creators set out to connect their audience with the characters and provide the world with a genuine getaway; a show they could turn to that makes them feel seen and heard, welcome and supported all while making them laugh.

These are the stories the world is craving right now. Not only beautiful depictions of true friendship during a time when we can’t see our friends, but diverse stories that showcase the world today. When I was younger and just moving into adulthood, I would’ve loved to see a series like this one – something that shows a wide range of people from different backgrounds – ethnically, socially and sexual orientation wise – where everyone can feel free and be understood.

Described as “Broad City” if the leads were actually as marginalized as they think they are, Texas and Alexis is a soon-to-be fan favorite. The characters are silly and ridiculous while still remaining authentic. They’re people you feel like you could meet in college, well rounded and rooted in truth. Keep an eye out for the series and try to support in any way you can, whether it be by donation or simply a share.
