Youth in Revolt – The Broken

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) We’re a rock band with very sharp edges! With this record, we really wanted to explore the “rock” parts of our sound as opposed to the more “metal-core” taste of the Love Is A Liar’s Game Fans of our heavier side shouldn’t be worried at all though, there is still a ton of screaming and chaos in The Broken, but with eleven songs to work with, we have more room to expand our sound and really stretch across the board.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Speaking for myself, I take influence from all around. I love stuff anywhere from Circa Survive to Bright Eyes to Conditions to Justin Bieber and all the way to Architects. I think it’s important to listen to at least a little bit of everything.

  1. Q) Your upcoming album is called The Broken.Where does the title come from?

A) The title comes from what we, as a band, have felt at times in our lives and what so many people are feeling right now. It is about figuring out who you really are in a world that you don’t understand and knowing that there are so many people out there that feel just like you. The Broken is our way of saying to come together and find the strength in each other that we may not be able to find alone.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) The band went into the studio with over 30 pre-production songs and spent about a month and a half re-working and condensing these ideas with Taylor Larson as well as a few others until we had the eleven final songs that we put one the record.

Q) Will there be a video for all the songs off The Broken or just certain ones?

A) Just certain ones if you mean full live action music videos! Eleven for one record would be a bit much, but we will be putting out multiple music videos and content videos! We’ll keep it interesting I promise!

Q) What can fans expect from a live Youth In Revolt performance?

A) Lots of energy! We put our all into everything that we do and our live show will be no exception.

Q) What songs off The Broken are you most looking forward to performing live?

A) I’m really looking forward to playing “Noise” live! Also, “Don’t Wait For Me.” It’s hard to even pick, I want to play everything!

Q) How do you plan to celebrate the album’s release?

A) With some big smiles and a sigh of relief, followed by a week-long nap! We’ve put so much work into this record, close to a year’s worth, and it is going to be incredible to finally have it all out in the open.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to the album?

A) We hope that, aside from enjoying the songs, people feel a connection to not only us, but to the other people around them as well. We live in a crazy world and we want The Broken, the people like us, to come together and start something beautiful.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Speaking for only myself, I’d love to do something with Anthony Green (Circa Survive). He has always been a big inspiration for me.

Q) You frequently cover other artists’ songs. How do you select the songs you cover?

A) It depends! In the case of the Ellie Goulding cover that we did, we chose it strictly because we thought we could make a good fit for it. It’s not one of her more popular songs, but we really liked the melody and rhythm to it so we went for it!

Q) Is there anything else you want be sure fans know about your music?

A) Only that we put our all into it – blood, sweat, tears and sleepless nights!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is so important not only as a promotional tool, but so that fans of our music can stay informed about tour dates and new music. It also is a way to connect and form a bond on a personal level. I can safely say that every single member of this band is a genuine and caring person so we want to make an effort to always be there for the people who support us. We’re always on our personal social media and willing to listen or help out where we can!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter?

A) So many things, but I’ll summarize it in a gigantic THANK YOU SO INCREDIBLY MUCH. We would be nothing without your love and support and not a single day goes by that we don’t realize that and appreciate it. We love you guys and can’t wait to meet you all at a show!!!!
