Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound is more electronic synth-wave. I really enjoy creating songs with electric bass lines. I like to make the production vibrate for lack of a better word.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Lana Del Rey, Tove Lo and Charli XCX are just a few of the artists I really look up to. In many ways they have influenced my production and songwriting.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Fear.”

A) “Fear” came about in the aftermath of a breakup. It tells the story of someone trying to forget the relationship “give me a remedy.” It deals with self-doubt and trying to justify why a relationship ended. It is supposed to represent somewhat of a messy mental state where nothing makes sense and all you want is to forget.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think my fans like my music because I don’t take it too seriously. I don’t want to be the best producer or best songwriter of the times. I just want to make music. The production is fun and makes you want to move and the lyrics lament a situation which most people are struck with at some point.

Q) Will there be a video for “Fear?”

A) I actually haven’t made a video for “Fear.” I don’t know if I am the music video type person. I think I would need someone with a really good editing set up for me to make a video that people would actually want to watch. [laughs]

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I am constantly coming up with new lyrics and writing them down wherever I can. Once I have the idea of a song I will, essentially, write an essay for it with all the lyric snips I think would work for it. I’m order for me to start producing a song, I have to hear it in my head first (something buzzy, something dark, something with sirens, etc.) and then I start. It’s almost like putting together a puzzle. Once I have put together all of the elements in the production, I will go through and write the song using the themes of my essay. I use the production as the guide for my song structure. After that, you have a song.

Q) You produce your own music and vocals. Why is that so important to you?

A) Being an independent artist, creating my own lyrics and production was my best option. I always knew I wanted to get into music; however, I admittedly had zero knowledge of any technical procedures that go into production. Once I began working on my songs, I knew I had to teach myself how to produce because just being able to write songs wasn’t enough. At this point, it’s almost like a goal I am trying to achieve. I want to completely produce, write and mix my first album all on my own. I think this is a unique opportunity, seeing as it gives the listener a real snapshot of what I am trying to put forth with my art.

Q) Will there be a full upcoming album or EP coming in the near future or are you focused on singles for the time being?

A) I have actually written and produced an entire album already. It is around fourteen to seventeen tracks at the moment. In the next few months I am planning to release an EP with three to four songs from my album. I’m in the final stages of recording and mastering. I am hoping to finish my EP before summer and the album before fall.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I actually have never been able to perform, but that is one of the most exciting things about being a musician. When I do get to preform, I love the thought of performing in smaller venues. I love how the artist can actually interact with their audience and put on more of an interactive show.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) My dream collaboration would probably be with Tove Lo. I have been listening to her since I was fifteen and something about her just speaks to my soul. She just writes the best songs, and her production is literally like pure ecstasy to the ears.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Currently, I have been really enjoying MOTOMAMI by Rosalía. I grew up on the border of Mexico, so Spanish was a big part of my upbringing. I think this album is amazing, as it combines flamenco with modern pop and deep bass music. It’s super trippy at some points and is candy to the ears. I think she also has a gorgeous voice.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I feel like social media has presented todays artist with a unique opportunity. They can share their art and their process with their fans anytime they want. It really gives the listener an insight into the daily lives of their artists. As a listener, I always loved when artists would post their album process on their social medias. It made me feel and understand their art better.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Anyone who takes the time to listen to my music just deserved a big thank you. I genuinely appreciate it. I am not the best singer or writer or producer, but I am very passionate about what I do, and I am always striving to improve.
