All For One Recap: Episodes 9-11

Hello there Digital Beans! Michelle here to bring you the latest recap on the our favorite Musketeers!

When we were with Dorothy (Gwenlyn Cumyn) and the gang last, the crew was getting ready to take the Student Union by storm. The gang; however, returns to the apartment sporting what looks like various pieces of food on them and we get an adorable Portiana scene where Ari (Angie Lopez) tells Portia (Claire Gagnon-King) she loves her (cue awwws)!

Yum…Not.

While Alex (Alejandra Simmons) is sticking to her argument of non-violence, Dorothy’s patience on the other hand is running thin. The girls fill The Inseparables in on what happened during the Student Union, where we find out that everyone who attended the Union were creepily obsessed with the Union in a “scientology way” as Dorothy put it.

So, finally after two hours of waiting, Alex is finally called on by Rick and she lays down the law. Rick in turn gives Alex the benefit of the doubt and asks to meet with Dorothy and Connie (Linnea Currie-Roberts). But dear old Dorothy can’t just let it rest. Instead, our leading lady decides to pick a fight with Rochefort, which in turn resulted in being pelted by fruit salad.

Here we have two college girls in their natural habitat after being attacked by fruit salad.

There’s a knock on the door and Dorothy lets Alex know that it’s just Miller (Dan Mousseau). But, alas, the mystery that is Miller has yet to meet any of Dorothy’s friends and awaiting behind the door is a very pissed off Miss Treville (Denise Yuen). Treville comes in to hear Dorothy’s side of the Student Union. This scene is my personal favorite as Denise Yuen delivers a chilling performance that would give anyone goosebumps as she scolds both Alex and Dorothy for their actions and finally warns them to steer clear of Rick. While Alex agrees, Dorothy on the other hand is less hesitant and we can’t really blame her.

Treville is NOT a force to be reckoned with Dorothy.

Jump to episode 10, I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good, which is accurate as the episode starts off with private kisses between Dorothy and Miller, a couple that I have come to love despite my inner shipping of Dornie. The couple kisses a few more times, eliciting some mixed reactions from The Inseparables, but the girl looks happy and we really can’t complain about that!

Miller takes to the background giving Dorothy an opportunity to properly update her Internet friends and seconds later he returns only to chime in his two cents on the whole Rick situation. The boy is definitely not just beauty, he’s got the brains, too. Miller suggests that Dorothy should try expose Rick’s previous indiscretions and get him out of office.

So there’s a brain in there after all, huh Miller?

Cut to the rest of the gang showing up to learn more about Dorothy and Miller’s plans. Portia and Ariana are on board (which I partially credit to Miller’s Harry Potter references) as they think the idea of pushing Rick out of office is the best non-violent and strategic approach. All that’s left to do is convince Alex.

Now are you ready for this? Remember that runaway that Alex was involved with from before? The one who ran away and never spoke to her again? Well, guess who that runaway is! That’s right, it’s MILLER or “Anton,” as Alex calls him when she walks into the apartment and is shocked to find him there. My heart literally broke into a million pieces because once again Alejandra Simmons absolutely slays it.

Goodbye tears, I didn’t need anyways.

Episode 11 picks up right where it left off last, but with a twist. Instead of a dramatic reunion scene, we get Miller/Anton jumping up to hug Alex who is still in disbelief. Miller/Anton on the other hand seems to get skittish, insisting that him and Alex should catch up like now, as in that moment, away from everyone else. But Dorothy puts a stop to that real quick and drags him back to talk.

“Just friends in high school,” sure you were Mills, sure.

Miller explains that Anton is his middle name and that Alex and him knew each other in high school claiming, “It’s no big deal.” Except Ariana calls bullshit and calls Miller out on his weird behavior and Alex’s equally weird reaction. I literally felt like you could have heard a pin drop with how awkward the tension in the room was. Dorothy pushes for more information, which leads to Miller suddenly snapping and yelling, “Let’s just drop it!”

Alex breaks the silence telling Miller she thought he was dead. This causes his attitude to change as he steps closer to her and touches her rather intimately, in my opinion, on her arm.

MAKE ROOM FOR JESUS MILLER

Dorothy then places herself (quite awkwardly might I add) between Alex and Miller in hopes of drawing some attention to herself and getting more information. Alex and Miller; however, are locked in what looks quite a staring contest, except its more…loving. They look like lovers who haven’t seen each other in years and despite all the time apart still have that connection. It’d be an endearing moment had it been a private one and not one with a live and Internet audience.

Finally, Dorothy grabs Miller’s attention who simply doesn’t know how to respond except with “It’s complicated,” which only seemed to upset the girl even more. I will say after watching it to this point I was pretty pissed with Mille. He clearly has been hiding something and the second he was caught tried to evade the situation, but there’s still something about it that drew me in. Perhaps it’s the curiosity or my love for Alex’s character, but whatever it is, it’s there.

One day I hope to have the power that Alex’s hand wave does.

Alex finally clears the air and tells everyone that her and Miller used to date. The wheels start spinning and Dorothy finally realizes that Miller is Alex’s runaway. Then the unexpected happens, instead of being pissed at Miller, Dorothy sympathizes for him. She reaches out her hand in an effort to comfort him and he pivots to avoid her. He tries to leave, but Alex stands in his way and demands he explain himself for disappearing six years ago.

The rest of the gang leaves Alex and Miller behind (along with The Inseparables) and oh boy does it get juicy from here.

So much love for the actors in this scene!

We find out that the former couple had an argument, which resulted in a break up. This absolutely destroyed Miller, who in turn decides to leave and never look back. This goes very hand in hand with the title of this episode, Don’t You Dare Look Back. We also find out the reasoning for Alex believing Miller was dead. Prior to their relationship ending, it would seem that the younger Miller had a rough patch where he spoke on some pretty heavy things.

Alex defends her side saying that she thought Miller deserved to be with a family that cared about him, but all Miller saw was himself being a burden to Alex and her family. The way Dan Mousseau delivers his lines in this scene is absolutely spectacular as he gives such a raw and heartbreaking performance that makes you feel like you’re there with him. You feel everything that he’s feeling as he’s reunited, in less than ideal circumstances, with his ex-girlfriend.

So, we’re fine, right? Right?

The former couple takes a seat and after all the yelling and crying is done with, they acknowledge that each of them was hurting at one point or another. They definitely took the more adult approach, listening to each other and then awkwardly laughing about it in the end. It isn’t until an Inseparable sends a message that they realize they’ve been live the entire time, ending the episode.

Last week’s episodes were emotional. They were real and I think it was some of the best work so far. From the writing to the acting, everything was just amazing. Episode 11 stands at 3:52 –  in a little under four minutes, the writers put together an emotional roller coast of an episode bringing the audience from one perspective to another to help deliver the best story possible.
