Q) Who are your musical influences?

A) I have many musical influences, but I would have to say as a youth I was impacted by Lauryn Hill’s music from that point on the list grew…here are just a few. Celine Dion, Amy Winehouse, Jessie J, Christina Aguilera, Colbie Caillat and Alicia Keys. Cardi B is my newest Fav! Along with Ella Mai, LP and Jessie Reyez; super raw talented artists. I am currently listening to Jessie Reyez on REPEAT. To me she is a current day Amy Winehouse with the killer vocal range and her lyrics completely speak to me. She is such a bad ass!

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “I’m So Alive.”

A) Through 418 Music I met Manny Martinez a.k.a. Dark Intensity at Miami music week 2017 and I was really excited about his sound. It turned out he was excited about mine as well. We both thought a more pop version of what we both typically write would be a fun challenge for our first original together, a sound something like a current Halsey production. We had a few Skype sessions, as Manny is West Coast and I am East. He sent some ideas for the track, I returned him some lyrics, we organized our ideas and through this collaboration “I’m So Alive” was born – a rhythmic pop/dance single that all music lovers could connect with. Then, it was further embraced by the dance community and thanks to an amazing group of remixers “I’m So Alive” has been charting on the Billboard Dance Club Chart for the last 12 weeks and is currently on the DJ Times Crossover Chart, too. We now have Club support across the globe.

Q) What do you think it is about the song the fans connect to?

A) Feedback from the fans have led me to believe they love the energy of the song and the fast-paced dance floor beat. Also, the story that the lyrics tell about passion and how romance can be explosive and can turn your world into a wonderful hurricane if you’re open to it.

Q) Which of your songs do you enjoy performing most?

A) I enjoy performing “Weightless” most because it was my first original that I self-released and it was the greatest experience when I was told my first commercial release was being embraced by the reporting DJs in the dance clubs and then to have it chart on Billboard. My lyrics hit home for many and I love that every time I perform this song it is instantly recognized by my audience and it’s the song that most fans sing along to. There’s nothing better than the feeling the love when a huge crowd is singing along!!!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and why are they significant to you?

A) First, I must say anywhere the attendees are honestly present for the music and to support the artist and the artistry. Personally, I enjoy performing at Pride festivals for my LGBT community. The crowd is like no other they are so tremendously supportive of me in my career they know my songs they dance to them in the clubs and the sing-along at the concert! I’m so grateful for the support they have shown me. It’s significant because I feel they want to empower me by embracing who I am. I am part of a unique group trying to find a common voice. This year I sang at Phoenix Pride and also Citifield Pride Night for the Mets through the LGBT Network both were outstanding experiences. I also enjoyed performing at events that include a variety of talent. I’m very much looking forward to an upcoming local event. I’ve been chosen to headline on the Investors Bank Stage at the Mercer County Italian American Festival. It’s a free three-day festival celebrating all things Italian so there will be a diversified talent pool from Pop to Opera along with fashion designers and winemakers. It’s significant because I am an Italian American.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with either Macklemore what David Guetta. I would collaborate with Macklemore because I love everything he stands for and how humble he is and I think we would hit it off and come up with something fire!!!! David Guetta would also be someone I would love to collaborate with because I grew to love dance music because of him and he is crazy talented, and I know he would create something that would not only complement my voice perfectly but I’m sure it would be a HIT because he writes hits!

Q) What can dance expect from a live Angelica Joni performance?

A) To know that and so you will just have to come see for yourself!

Q) Tell us what it’s like to have three consecutive billboard charting songs.

A) I am so very excited and proud that “Weightless,” “Exhale” and now “I’m So Alive” have all made an impact on the Billboard Dance Club Chart for me as an indie artist to achieve this level with my own originals speaks volumes of my writing abilities. At this time, with these accolades, working with a publisher that can get my songs into the hands and to the ears of established artists is the goal. Thanks go out to all the remixers on these projects.
