Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) High energy indie pop with an 80’s rock and synthwave influence.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) We all grew up around 80’s rock and have since branched into listening to other artists.  I am a huge fan of Panic at the Disco and Alex has been really into Gorillaz lately.  He’s also taken influence from artists like Joe Satriani, the Beach Boys, Van Halen and Alan Walker.

Q) Your EP Something Stronger came out last month. What are some themes you explore on this new EP?

A) Seizing the day, dealing with chronic illness and all the issues that come with it, toxic relationships, social anxiety and wanting to be seen for who you really are

Q) What was your song writing process like. What came first, the music or the lyrics?

A) We like to start with the instrumental track.  Hearing the unique sounds and overall vibe of the track helps us come up with topics and ideas we might not think of otherwise.  It also makes the lyrics and track either feel really cohesive or contrast in an interesting and purposeful way.

Q) The EP includes songs like “Maybe Next Time,” “Chasing a Stranger,” “The Winning Team” and my personal favorite “Machine.” Which song is a personal favorite for you and what makes it so significant?

A) “Machine” is my favorite of the batch as well.  It’s a song I wrote a long time ago about dealing with chronic illness and the new emotions I felt during that time.  I felt like I’d lost control over my body and had a lot of my freedom taken away just by being sick.  We sat on the song for several years after writing it, but since it was so personal to me, I always wanted to revisit it and give it the release it deserved.  We’ve been playing the song live on our tour with Echosmith, and the crowd response to it has been absolutely incredible.  We’ve had people come up to us in tears after the show telling us how much the song resonated with them because they had gone through a similar experience.  I’m really happy we were able to write a song that touches people like that, it’s truly something special.

Q) The EP has a seven-track list, and it includes a full range of emotions from tackling heartbreak and disappointment, hope and perseverance, offering up timely testaments to the power of faith and the unbreakable bonds of family with vulnerable and relatable lyrics.  Was there a song that was more emotional for you to record or maybe challenging for you in some way?

A) I would say “Machine” again for the reasons I stated in the last question.  I remember practicing this one a ton trying to get the emotion and nuance just right on the vocals.  It wasn’t the hardest song I had to record for the EP (“Maybe Next Time” was if you’re curious) but I wanted it to be perfect. I even did a different delivery on each of the choruses, the earlier being more vulnerable and the later ones being more aggressive and defiant.

Q) The song “Something Stronger” was created with celebrated producer Mike Green (Paramore, All Time Low) to produce a bold, brash sound that’s all your own. What attracted you to work with him?

A) From the first time we wrote with him back in 2019 he understood our sound immediately.  He’s great at taking our ideas and expanding on them and refining them while still allowing us to be creative.  The product is a song that sounds like the best version of us.  He’s also a great guy, very professional, and fun to work with.

Q) The results are songs about refusing to give up, even when the going gets tough, gutsy, heartfelt music that insists on better days still to come. What do you hope people take away from it?

A) We hope our music can help pull people through hard times and resonate with them on a level that words can’t.  We hope it gives people encouragement and energy to get through the day.  Everyone has their struggles, and music can help people overcome those tough times.

Q) You will be touring with Echosmith starting on October 13 in Nashville, TN at The Basement East and ending on November 18 in Phoenix, AZ at Crescent Ballroom. Is there a song from the EP that you are dying to perform live?

A) We wrote the title track “Something Stronger” specifically to get crowds hyped up.  So far, it’s been well received.  We have the audience sing with us on the post chorus “oh oh” part, which is always a lot of fun.  It’s really cool to see people singing along to something that we wrote.  I’ve seen a lot of people bouncing and bobbing their heads when the chorus hits.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve recently gotten into K-pop, specifically Twice and Stray Kids.  I like the production and the energy that a lot of their songs bring.  Alex has been listening to Stray Kids too as well as Gorillaz.  He says “Miroh” is his current jam and “Saturnz Barz” is his favorite song to listen to in the car.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Streaming is massive right now, so most of our fans are already online when they go to listen to us.  Additionally, we tour miles away from our hometown so it’s a great way to connect with people all over the globe.  We’ve made a lot of fans in foreign countries and places we’ve never played before through streaming and social media alone.  Social media offers you a much greater reach as well as a steadier flow of content since you can post without having to book a show.

Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of you and your music?

A) Thank you so much for your support, we sincerely appreciate it!  We’re so glad you’ve been able to find and enjoy our music.  We hope you’ll continue to keep an eye on us as we have a ton of great music and shows in store for you next year!
