Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) I like to say my sound is a melting pot of genres. I feel like it’s very storyteller driven lyrically with elements of country, pop and some R&B with production and fun melodies.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) I love Kelsea Ballerini, Kelly Clarkson and Dan + Shay.
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “New Her.”
A) It’s a song about visiting my younger self and seeing all the highs and lows that she went through. I feel like people can get stuck in nostalgia, but I wanted to write a song about being able to love it and appreciate the growth that got you to now.
Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) I think everyone can look at their younger self and remember exactly how it felt to dream about the future.
Q) On Instagram we saw you and some friends reacting the video for “New Her.” How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?
A) I think people love connecting to the sweetness in visiting your younger self and loving her from afar instead of trying to recreate it or getting stuck in it. We are always so hard on ourselves in the moment, but I bet if we went back to that memory we would be so proud of ourselves.
Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) It usually just depends on the idea it can really go either way. But with this song specifically we started with the guitar and really got comfy with the chord progression and started singing some melodies and lyrics until it felt right.
Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?
A) I like to be pretty involved! I have such a vision for my songs that I want to make sure it’s connecting and landing the way I envisioned it.
Q) With “New Her” out now, is this a prelude to a full album or EP? We loved Chapter One, could this be “Chapter Two?”
A) I think “New Her” is definitely the start of a new chapter for me!
Q) You have performed at iconic locations like The Bluebird Cafe and Whiskey Jam. What can fans expect from a live Bri Fletcher performance?
A) They can expect raw vulnerability in all of my shows. I never want to feel “untouchable” or “unrelatable.” I want people to be able to put themselves in the songs I write and really connect to them. I also think personally I put on a pretty good show, but that’s just me!
Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) I really love playing The Listening Room, especially here in Nashville it’s hard to find venues where people can actually hear you and the lyrics you are saying. So, this venue feels really special and intimate which I feel like is a place I shine in.
Q) You’ve collaborated with Jake Hoot and Sammy Arriaga so far. Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
A) Oh man, I have so many people I would love to collaborate with if it ever worked out, but right now I think Joshua Slone would be an awesome person to sing with.
Q) We loved you on “The Voice.” What is some advice that Coach Chance the Rapper – or even any of the coaches – offered you that you’ve taken to heart?
A) When I was on the show a few of the coaches encouraged me to be less perfect and more emotional, so I’ve tried to tap into that!
Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) I’ve been really loving Joshua Slone right now!
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) I’d like to say thank you so much! It truly means the world to me and helps me want to keep going in this crazy career that can feel a little heartbreaking sometimes. Fans are truly what help me keep going!
