Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I’d describe my sound as Alt-Pop. I’ve a full EP done, and no tracks are the same.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Blondie was a big inspiration to me, which I think comes through in the sound of That’s Rich, but more broadly I have such a wide sense of musical inspirations who are strong females such as Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, Stevie Knicks, Miley Cyrus, Cher and Tate McRae.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “That’s Rich.”

A) I say the track is less about a relationship, but more a situationship! I was reading Debbie Harry’s autobiography and wanted to encapsulate the attitude she portrayed in her life. The track was maybe the second or third song I’d written. It was done in my loft via a Zoom, but it then really came to life when I finally got in the studio in London – I just felt like the attitude of the city really inspired me and helped bring it to life

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the song is a different take, particularly for Ireland when it comes to Eurovision in terms of being a contemporary Pop song. It’s modern, young and really sassy. It also works for a cross-demographic too with 80s elements that young and older audiences can enjoy.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I think the punk, effortless vibe of the track comes to life. We shot it in my garage. I styled myself so it’s got my personality weaved through it. I could have done something more polished and rehearsed, but I’d rather save that kind of thing for the Eurovision stage so we’re wowing people where it matters!

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I keep notes in my phone – so funny phrases or lines I hear, like “That’s Rich” which pique my interest I write them down. Anything that sounds clever or fun I love to keep note of. When it comes to the music, I go in with an idea of what I’d like the song to sound like – a ballad, sassy pop song and bring that to the Producers who bring it to life.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I’ve worked with a few producers and vibed really well with both of them, particularly Karl Zine who helped produce this song. We get each other and he brings out different elements of the track I can hear to bring them to life.

Q) We loved seeing you on “The Voice UK.” What advice did mentor Meghan Trainor offer that you took to heart and put to use?

A) I learnt so much from my time on “The Voice,” from everyone including the Vocal Coaches, Meghan Trainor and people I met along the way and have reached out their help and support like Ella Eyre who were so gracious and kind with their time!

She always said, “You’re not one of a million, you’re one IN a million” so to not forget the value you have and can bring is something that stuck with me.

Q) You’ll be competing for Ireland’s 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. What makes this the perfect platform for your music?

A) I am looking forward to flying the flag for my country whilst also getting to perform in a stadium on a massive stage with the first song that I have ever written! It means so much to me because Eurovision is a huge thing in our country and in my home, so it’s crazy to think I’ll actually be on that stage.

You never know who could be watching – so I’m taking this a serious moment and platform to launch my music to the world.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes! I have three other tracks done and ready to go, which will all be out this year!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I actually love punk music. I would find myself listening to YUNGBLUD, Billy Idol and Pale Waves. I just find this sort of music very expressionistic, but if you were asking me my time list my favorite artists to collaborate with would be Aerosmith, the Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Mayer and Rihanna.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m obsessed with Tate McRae – love her whole vibe and can’t wait for more of her music.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I just love being able to show my personality and prefer a non-polished way of communicating with my fans, which is why I love going Live so much. It’s more natural and interactive.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Just thank you so much for your enthusiasm and support it really means a lot. I hope I’m able to take you along on this journey with me!
