Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Retro Future. I am influenced by so much music from the past, but working with technology as a producer keeps it sounding current.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My biggest influences are Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson and David Bowie.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Falling.” What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The song is about dealing with loss – all of the ups and mostly downs. I think everybody can relate to that on some level.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video for the track just makes it clear as possible. The sky represents where the soul might go after the body has died. It was important to me that people knew the words.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) There is no real way to describe the writing process. Sometimes the music comes first, and other times the words. Really depends on the mood.

Q) As a Grammy-winning producer, what goes into the process of figuring out you’re completely finalized working on a song?

A) The song usually tells you when it’s ready! [smiles]

Q) How do you shake off a long day in the studio?

A) A meal, a movie and sleep.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes! Working on it now. I am inspired and have been working away during this isolation period.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) A dream collaboration would be with Frank Ocean or Pharrell. But I already collaborate with the people I love. [smiles]

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Not really listening to a lot as of late, mostly just creating.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Well, if you do social media from a healthy place, it really humanizes the whole experience. It’s freeing to share all the parts, even the mistakes, and it’s somehow inspiring on both ends.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you, the gratitude is through the roof. I can’t believe I still get to do what I do for a living and it’s because of all y’all.
