We open on a road with fire flies flying around we pan up to a crashed convertible with just married sign on the back with streamers we pan over the site of the crash until the title card appears. We see Detective Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana) heading to a crime scene where she hands a coffee to a patrol man puts on her badge chain and checks things out.

Tandy (Olivia Holt) tries to use her powers again but can’t and is still suffering from the beating she took the night before. She also has bloody clothes. She grabs some stuff and goes to meet Liam (Carl Lunstedt), who she fills on what happened the night before. They try calling the hospital to find out if Rick is dead or alive. Tandy wonders whether she would rather he be dead or alive. Liam says they can get new documents for her at the dry cleaners and they head there.

Tyrone (Aubrey Joseph) heads down to breakfast with his family where his mother Adina (Gloria Reuben) is talking on the phone and we learn that her work has to do with the Roxxon Corporation. Tyrone talks with his father Michael (Miles Mussenden) about the fallout from the fight at the basketball game. Michael suggests that Tyrone follows his mother’s example reminding him that it was her who helped the family recover after Bill’s death, but Tyrone doesn’t think he’s up to being as strong as his mother.

Tyrone is talking to Father Delgado (Jaime Zevallos) as he gets ready for service. Tyrone has not been taking the pills he prescribed. Tyrone calls it a need for control while Father Delgado says he has a need for total control. He asks Tyrone why he attacked the player during the game and we found out that Father Delgado believes that Tyrone’s brother’s death lead to Tyrone suffering from survivor’s guilt and having anger issues. Father Delgado describes the anger being bottled up as poison that will affect those around him when “shaken” up. Tyrone brings up getting revenge on the cop who caused this, but Father Delgado thought he had given up on that so Tyrone quickly backtracks.

Father Delgado is leading the service at Tyrone’s school. Evita (Noëlle Renée Bercy) comes over to talk to Tyrone and via text they talk about him being robbed the night before at the party and the fact that she considered it an attempt at a date. Evita thinks that he is being too nice in forgiving Tandy for the attempted pickpocketing. Eventually, Tyrone asks her to sign in for him for study period.

Adina hears something outside and assumes pests are back so she goes to a safe and takes out a hand gun. Detective O’Reilly is checking Rick’s phone contacts and we see Tyrone surveilling Connors (J.D. Evermore) house. Detective O’Reilly has brought in Rick’s two friends for questioning.

At the dry cleaner’s we see an illicit deal going down. As Liam and Tandy get there they talk to Elmer and find out that they will need eleven thousand dollars, which is more than either of them have saved. Liam offers his savings, which amounts to five or six thousand, but Tandy thinks she might have enough to make up the rest.

Tyrone fell asleep and Connors’ car is gone, and he realizes he’s late for basketball practice. Tandy heads back to mother’s place, but Melissa (Andrea Roth) is at home with her boyfriend Greg (Gary Weeks) and they found her hidden drugs and money and spent it all. Melissa screams at her that Tandy always runs away when things get difficult and then Tandy leaves.

Tyrone finally makes it to practice, but he is late and the coach makes him watch as he punishes the rest of the team with suicide sprints because of his fight at the game and his failure to turn up on time. Tandy and Liam are at the dry cleaners when they see a guy come in needing his dress suit fixed for wedding photos that day. Tandy comes up with a plan she leaves $5500 with the dry cleaners and borrows clothes for herself and Liam.

Tandy and Liam con their way into a wedding while Detective O’Reilly is chasing down a lead with a sketch of Tandy. Tandy and Liam are casing the wedding looking for things to steal and they decide to take the card gifts, the cash bar takings and the tips being held.

Tyrone does suicide sprints by himself in the gym at night and is found by Father Delgado, who hands him a towel. Tandy is being affected by the wedding atmosphere so much so that her power activates. Tyrone is getting changed after training when he is confronted by some of his teammates who beat him and he tries unsuccessfully to use his powers to escape.

A patrolman hands Detective O’Reilly a large coffee as she waits. There’s a phone number on it. Liam and Tandy are dancing while he fills her in on the maid of honor who is in possession of the tip money. Tandy is still upset, but she thanks Liam for helping her and hugs him which activates her power. She sees a vision of her and Liam at what appears to be their wedding where they are talking about how they first met. She freaks out, which breaks the vision and pulls her back into the present where she leaves Liam confused and rushes off to the restroom.

Tyrone wakes up and is locked in the equipment room of the school gym. We see him attack the locked gate with a baseball bat and then in the next scene we see him on the basketball court with the bat calling his mom to tell her he will be late because of practice.

Tandy meets the maid of honor in the restroom, who checks if she is alright they talk about why she is upset. We see Tandy eyeing the maid of honor’s bag as she gives her a hug. Tyrone is walking down the street on the way to Detective Connors’ place when he sees his car coming and hides. Connors unloads things from his car, but hears Tyrone when he kicks over some debris he investigates but Tyrone is gone.

As the maid of honor goes to pay the caterers at the end of the wedding reception she discovers the money gone. Liam steals the cash bar money and he and Tandy quickly leave stealing the wedding car. We see a queue at a store and a woman on the phone talking loudly. Behind her is Father Delgado with a loaf of bread. When he finally gets to the front Delgado drops the bread and asks for a bottle of alcohol instead.

Tyrone comes home and finds his mother Adina folding clothes. He asks her how she keeps things together so well after his brother’s death. She tells him about when he was a lot younger and she was not coping at all well that she made a change and “put it all away.” He thanks her and as she gives him a kiss on his forehead his powers activates and they are drawn into a vision.

In the vision Adina is with much Young Tyrone (Maceo Smedley) and Young Bill in a creepy store lane with overhead lights flashing on and off. Billy then runs off and around the corner and we hear a single gunshot ring out only for Young Tyrone to run off after him leading to another gunshot. While all this is happening, we see Tyrone watching it unseen. Adina runs around the corner with Tyrone following and see two freshly dug graves with grave stone in the store aisle. Adina looks at the graves and then at the milk cartons on the shelves where we see missing notices featuring Billy and Tyrone on those cartons.

In the present Tyrone and Adina break the connection and we see that Adina is very affected by what just happened without necessarily understanding what it is that took place. She stumbles backwards and takes a seat complaining about feeling dizzy. Tyrone says that she puts too much on herself and that someone poisoned her a long time ago, echoing the words of Father Delgado. He wants her to rest, but she insists that there is too much to do. She goes to sleep, and Tyrone covers her with a blanket.

As she sleeps Tyrone looks at the safe where the gun is kept. Liam and Tandy are back at the dry cleaners taking off the borrowed clothes when Liam asks about Tandy freaking out during their dance at the wedding. Tandy is evasive and Liam reveals that he knows that she lives in the abandoned church, something she had been trying to hide from him. He also says he knows when she is lying. He opens up to her and Tandy responds by breaking up with him and leaving. She takes her new documents and the car and heads out of New Orleans. Liam is heading back to his car when he is arrested by Detective O’Reilly.

Liam calls Tandy to let her know he’s been arrested and to ask for her help she listens to the message then turns up her stereo and keeps driving. We see Connors working on installing a kitchen and drops a screw as he goes to collect it Tyrone kicks the door in and confronts him with his parent’s. Connors quickly flees. Tyrone chases him up the stairs into a dead end and then he screams in anger as he pulls the trigger and teleports away, leaving Connor looking for a non-existent bullet wound.

Tyrone appears in front of Tandy’s car and the shot narrowly misses her as she veers off the road and crashes into a tree, but not before her hands begin to glow with the activation of her powers.
