The All-Valley Tournament committee is ready to sit down and hash out some fresh ideas to bring honor and interest back to the tournament—but this quickly goes awry. From an uproar over the color of the mats, appealing to a female demographic, and potentially bringing in a local celebrity, the committee deliberates and verbally jab one another as they solidify changes. In the end the decision in their proposed changes is unanimous and the letters to the respective dojos go out immediately.

Miyagi-Do receives the letter and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) allows the students to view the new additions to the tournament: a girls division and a skills competition. While Sam (Mary Mouser) will have the girls division part covered, Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) is apprehensive about being the strongest male competitor for Miyagi-Do—especially if that means going against Robby (Tanner Buchanan). Johnny (William Zabka) is pissed off by the latest changes, especially since Eagle Fang does not have a female competitor to enter. When Johnny tells his students to think outside the box, he immediately shuts down Bert’s (Owen Morgan) idea of a girl on the debate team. Instead, he looks to Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) for help.

Meanwhile, Cobra Kai seems completely unruffled with the new changes. As Kreese (Martin Kove) and Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) know that they have the new categories completely covered, they are ready to prove they are the best. However, Silver has also decided that Cobra Kai needs to up their game and take it to the next level—with merchandise.

Ready to head into Cobra Kai for practice, Tory (Peyton List) is immediately confronted by her Aunt Kandace (Rebecca Lines). Unfortunately, the visit is anything but pleasant as Kandace is looking for a handout from the disability benefits that Tory’s mom receives monthly—including waiting for Tory’s mom to die so she can collect survivor benefits. Tory reminds her aunt that once she turns 18 she has every intention of taking care of her brother. Kandace reminds Tory that without her high school education and a criminal record, Tory does not stand a chance against her in court.

Realizing that her only chance at beating her aunt is getting back into high school, Tory looks to Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) for help. The high school is willing to let Tory back in to get her education, as long as the LaRusso’s are on board with this decision. Amanda agrees to help Tory in exchange that she leaves Sam alone at school. An agreement is made just as Daniel and Sam are entering the house—Sam angered by this development. Daniel discusses the decision with Amanda but learns that his wife wanted to help because she sees a lot of herself in Tory and knows that offering her a second chance is the way to go.

In an effort to drum up interest in Eagle Fang and possibly snag a female competitor for the team, Johnny joins Miguel at the high school and tries to recruit in the most Johnny way possible—by using outdated methods of persuasion. From having Miguel oil up his arms to flex to chatting up the female athletes in a cringy manner, their efforts fail. While getting ready to leave, Moon (Hannah Kepple) suggests talking to her ex Piper (Selah Austria)–who is a great athlete and is interested in learning karate. Stopping by Piper’s gymnastic practice, Johnny manages to pitch a feminist-worthy speech and Piper agrees to be at the next practice.

When Piper does not show up to Eagle Fang, Miguel finds out via Piper’s social media that she has been persuaded by Cobra Kai’s new merch and agreed to join their team instead. Fortunately, all is not lost when Johnny listens to Owen’s idea and ends up at a school debate. There, he witnesses a young woman named Devon (Oona O’Brien) not only verbally rip apart her opponent—but also the book on his podium. Eagle Fang has found their female competitor!

Still grappling with the return of Silver and what happened to Eli (Jacob Bertrand), Daniel tries to get a moment with Robby alone to talk. As Robby walks into the convenience store next door to Cobra Kai, Daniel confronts Robby about what he did to Eli and asks him to proceed carefully with Silver. Drawing from his own history, Daniel explains how Silver is manipulative and will destroy any good left in Robby. Silver walks into their conversation and after advising Robby to leave, tells Daniel that he did not manipulate him to become aggressive—the anger was already there to begin with.

After losing his mohawk courtesy of Cobra Kai, Hawk—now back to Eli has holed up in his house to hide. Demetri comes to visit him and voice his concerns about being considered the top male competitor for Miyagi-Do, but Eli is not interested as he is beating himself up for his actions while having that mohawk and has quit karate altogether. Determined to prove that Eli doesn’t need the mohawk to prove himself, Demetri tries to talk sense to his friend—even showing him an old video they made titled “Binary Brothers” to remind him that he will always be there. Later at a Miyagi-Do practice, Eli shows up and decides to join Daniel’s dojo.

In order to get an outside perspective on her Tory situation, Sam goes to Santa Barbara and visits an old friend—Aisha (Nichole Brown). Filling Aisha in on what happened with Tory, Sam feels that she has no control over her life and that her parents aren’t listening to her while they help out Tory. Aisha tells Sam about her experience at her new school and how she befriended someone who was everything she abhorred. For Sam to move past what happened, she needs to confront her problems head on.

With the LaRussos providing the much needed help, Tory returns to West Valley High School and is met with many wary and cold looks. Before Tory can take another step, she is confronted by Sam. Tory tries to thank Sam for the help that her parents gave but Sam is not interested in a truce. Instead, she tells Tory to watch her back and throws back “I’m coming for you, bitch” before turning and walking away with a smile on her face.
