I want to be honest with you dear readers; I’m not a big fan of the fantasy genre. However, the book Dawnbreaker is an exception. Author Jodi Meadows’ extraordinary ability to describe places and images throughout the story paints real living pictures that make reading interactive and a truly fantastic journey. This way of writing also reflects the passion of the writer for this story and especially for her characters who are presented in their personal growth through different challenges and obstacles.

Dawnbreaker is the second and final installment of the Nightrender duology. Here we will discover what happened to Hanne, Rune and Nightrender after the death of the king absorbed by the Malice. The atmosphere on the Island of Salvation is even darker than before and in this new installment the characters will have to face their actions and try to balance the consequences of them in order to save their own destinies. This fantastic journey will leave the readers with a mix of a sense of hope and tension for their beloved characters.

Hanne, Rune and Nightrender have an impressive personal background. Personally, I was really involved in the growth of Hanne – through the story she understands who she is and what she wants to do with her power. I really appreciate it when a character in general has this specific of a personal journey because I think it can be a good lesson for readers to accept not only themselves but also the process of healing, which is fundamental to understand who we are.

The atmosphere in this book is incredible, it’s like composing a giant puzzle piece by piece that leads you to have a true map’s image. Jodi Meadows is a wonderful writer. She is creative and she is brilliant in terms of description. I think that this ability is the real secret to this book. Readers have a vivid feeling of what is happening throughout the story because of this. Some parts maybe would have needed much more space and for this reason sometimes the book loses this number of details and may seems scattered. However, despite that, the story is well balanced in its complexity.

I think that Dawnbreaker is like a surprise, especially for me who is completely new to this type of genre. That’s why I truly recommend it because of its story and because I love to see how much passion the writer put into this tale and in each character, perfectly matched and well made. It’s like a mirror of Meadows’ inner world and it is amazing to be a reader of this fantastic story, which will surprise you and scare you in some way, but for sure will not disappoint you.
