Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Urgent, nostalgic, like a house party

Q) What artists inspired your sound growing up?

A) David Bowie, Elton John, Neil Young, The Smashing Pumpkins, DJO!

Q) Your new EP ‘Plaid” is expected on April 30th. What are some themes you will be exploring on it?

A) The patterns in life that seem eternal – love, life, heartbreak, etc.

Q) So far from the EP you have released “Basement Kissing” and “Everything I See.” How do these tracks represent the rest of the project?

A) Each song on this EP was served to the highest order of, “how can we serve the song.” And what we realized was there were all very unique in their message and production.

Q) What was the songwriting process for the music on the EP? Did you need music before you could craft the lyrics?

A) As often is, we produce and write pretty collaboratively. Although, most of the songs were born in the bedrooms of Selby, Darby and Web (for “Twilight”).

Q) Past music videos and visualizers of yours are so fun! Are there plans for more visuals with this EP?

A) Yes, we shot some videos in Sewanee TN, the birthplace of our band! It felt right at home.

Q) Your music is known and loved for having a nostalgic edge and sound. Is that something you set out to intentionally create or just naturally what happens in the creation process?

A) Not intentionally. We really are just “chasing goosebumps” if that makes sense.

Q) What did it mean to you to get to take part in the SXSW festival this year?

A) It felt like a right of passage done by so many musicians before us

Q) How did you approach putting together your SXSW set lists?

A) We wrote a setlist showcasing the many emotions of our band – angsty, loving, funky. [smiles]

Q) You are also going on a Plaid tour along with many upcoming festival dates. Where are some of your favorite places to perform?

A) We are excited to do our first headline tour on the West Coast this May. As surfers, we hope to get out there in that cool California water.

Q) What songs from the new project are you most looking forward to performing live? –

A) We are really interested in performing the last track on the EP, “Twilight,” live, as it is a ballad.

Q) Any other artists you saw perform at SXSW that you were looking forward to seeing?

A) We caught some of Sun Rooms set – those guys rip!

Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of you and your work?

A) Endless thanks and eternal gratitude
