Enjambre – El Derrumbe

Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) We would like to think our sound is constantly evolving record after record, but I would throw in rock n roll, 70’s 80’s synthesizers and touch of some crooner vocals in a blender and you would probably get us.

Q) Who are your musical influences?

A) 60’s 70’s rock n roll, Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bowie, Jeannette, Marc Bolan, Genesis, 60’s Bossanova

Q) Tell us the story behind the song “El Derrumbe.”

A) “El Derrumbe” was being written for a lifelong friend who was going through a tough time. The song was put on hold after he passed and was later finished this year after losing some family members.

Q) In late August you also released a video for “El Derrumbe.” What was the concept behind the video?

A) For those who haven’t seen the video, we shot it at the Santa Teresa cemetery in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico. Being that the cemetery is a little less than two hundred years old, it has really unique architecture, trees, history and fascinating tombstones. So, when the idea was brought up to possibly using the cemetery as a location, we all immediately said yes and knew it was going to be something really unique to capture on film.

Q) “El Derrumbe” seems to be a song about rising above. During this time, how has music helped you to get through?

A) It’s helped more than I can imagine. Before things took a turn for the worst, we were half way through writing the record. So, us getting together and working through all of this I think helped us out to mentally stay focused. Music, I think has always been a safe haven for people no matter what situation you are in. So, hopefully, this new record can be that comfort some people are looking for during these tough times.

Q) What do you hope fans take away from “El Derrumbe?”

A) I hope they can identify themselves with the song or that it can adapt to a certain situation in their lives and make the song their own. We always love to hear the response our listeners make to certain songs. They can connect in so many different ways, some that have nothing to do with the song at all, but can be relatable just as much as the original idea itself.

Q) With the release of “El Derrumbe,” is there an album in the works and if so, when can fans expect it?

A) It was definitely in the works and was our last single to be released to the public before the release of the record. You can listen to the entire record Próximos Prójimos on any of your favorite digital streaming platforms

Q) Originally forming in Santa Ana, California and emigrating to Mexico, how did that move influence the type of music that you wanted to create?

A) I think we all had the same mindset, which was to continue to make great music, to always try and outdo ourselves. And, in this case, as soon as we decided to move, we started writing out album Daltónico (in which this year marks its 10-year anniversary). So, with that in mind, you could have probably put us five anywhere in the world and we would have probably still have given it our very best.

Q) What do you miss most about performing live?

A) We’ve always loved to tour and play in front of an audience, ever since we were kids and teenagers. So, taking that away has been very hard for us. That adrenaline you get minutes before heading on stage, hearing the audience shout, putting your guitar on, looking up and seeing thousands of people in front of you – it’s just an amazing feeling. We miss the incredible people we meet on the road, the soundchecks, the late nights, early mornings…EVERYTHING!

Q) Have you done any virtual concerts during this time?

A) We did our first virtual concert just a few days ago. We played our entire new record before the release. It was pretty much a record release show online and, as soon as it was over, the record was available online everywhere. We had a lot of fun doing, rehearsing the new songs and giving it the importance it deserved, as if the audience was there with us.

Q) Who would you love to collaborate with in the future?

A) I think our collaborations have been really natural, so if we ever do one again, it would have to be something we all feel really comfortable with. I think we have enough with the five minds in the band to think about any collabs at the moment.

Q) What would you like to share with your fans & supporters of your music?

A) Just wanna say thanks! We thank you all for the support you’ve given us all these years and the continued love you show us at our shows, online, at meet and greets, everywhere. You guys are the best. Stay safe, stay strong and we’ll see you all very soon!
