While the ghosts decide to antagonize Sam (Rose McIver) over her punctuation and grammar, Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long) decides to approach Flower (Sheila Carrasco) and finally shoot his shot by asking her out for their one-on-one date. While apprehensive about the intimacy of one-on-one dating, Flower finally agrees to give Thorfinn a chance. Once Flower leaves the room, Alberta (Danielle Pinnock), Pete (Richie Moriarity), Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) and Sam help Thorfinn brainstorm to create the best date ever.

Missing the weekly ponder, Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) goes on a search for Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) and finds him in the library with Nigel (John Hartman). When Hetty learns that Nigel has moved into the library, this does not sit well with her and urges Isaac to get to their ponder. Unfortunately, Nigel decides to insert himself into Hetty and Isaac’s weekly ponder…preferably right between the two friends.

Meanwhile, Sam tries to convince Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) to give up their dinner plans for Valentine’s Day to help out Thorfinn and Flower with their date. Jay tries to remind Sam that she needs to learn how to say no to the ghosts and postpone Thorfinn’s date, but Sam shares the fear that Flower may back out on the date if given the opportunity…so they need to act quickly. Jay finally agrees and Sam plans to write out a grocery list of the foods that Thorfinn tells her must be on the menu….even if it is a little odd.

During her hard-won TV time, Hetty tries explaining to Nancy (Betsy Sodaro) that Lord Landingham is a main character in Hetty’s favorite show “Bodices and Barons.” During her explanation Nigel comes in to invite Hetty to a Welcome Tea that he is hosting. As Nigel leaves the room, Hetty takes offense to Nigel’s slight on Nancy’s behalf. But when Nancy mentions that Nigel extended an invite to her the day before, it is Hetty who now feels slighted.

On the night of their date, Thorfinn is a big bundle of nerves over the impending date with Flower. But not to worry as the date appears to get off to a decent start. In conversation, Flower tells Thorfinn about her last one-on-one date with this guy named Michael. When Flower asks about the dinner they are smelling, Thorfinn shares a story about how he last ate their meal, rams testicles, before losing his father. While Thorfinn forgets the taste of the meal, Flower suggests to Sam that she eat the dish to help Thorfinn remember the taste. Instead, Sam convinces Jay that the ghosts want him to eat the meal and so Jay reluctantly samples the goods. After dinner, Alberta offers serenading Flower and Thorfinn with some country music while Pete creates an improv scenario with a pirate and staples. That date is a complete success and when Thorfinn walks Flower to her door, they share a kiss.

Meanwhile, Hetty decides to seek out Trevor (Asher Grodman) and give him something he has been requesting for a while: pillow talk. With the issue of Nigel’s slight weighing on her mind, Hetty opens to Trevor with her issue. In turn, Trevor convinces Hetty to throw her own party out of spite and upstage Nigel. Delighted, Hetty decides to go through with this plan…but not before she uses Trevor for her own fun like she did the washing machine.

The next morning, Thorfinn is all smiles after his date with Flower. He tells Sam and Pete how him and Flower kissed, with Jay cheering him on as Sam relays the news. Unfortunately, when Flower enters the room…she appears to have forgotten their date along with the kiss. Flower leaves the room and Pete and Sam console a downtrodden Thorfinn. But not to be deterred, Thorfinn proposes a redo of last night’s date. While Sam is reluctant to do so because her and Jay cancelled their prior dinner reservations for him, Thorfinn’s insistence wins them over.

Hetty’s campaign against Nigel begins and the other ghosts are getting on board with attending. From convincing Alberta that the party is for her half-birthday to appealing to Sasappis and his love of drama, Hetty gets the others on her side. And of course, is not above begging Nancy to attend as well.

For take two of the perfect date, Thorfinn is determined to replicate the night before so he can kiss Flower again. They do the date over down to the last detail, from Jay tasting the less-than-appealing ram dish to Alberta’s country serenade. But during Pete’s improv, Flower slips up when she mentions the staples…and Thorfinn notices. Flower lied about not remembering the date and leaves the room upset.

When Isaac arrives to Nigel’s party and sees an empty room, Isaac goes to investigate and finds Hetty’s party in full swing. While Hetty has no problem admitting she held the party because Nigel slighted her, Isaac shares his displeasure at Hetty hurting Nigel and leaves the room. Isaac’s dig at Hetty being a “supposed best friend” makes her rethink her decision.

Deciding to investigate why Flower lied, Sam finds her and urges her to share why she lied about the date. While hesitant, Flower mentions that her time with Michael (Ben Lindgren) was more serious than she let on. Flower and Michael had met in law school, fell in love, and had gotten engaged. Unfortunately for Flower, Michael was taken from her too soon and so she chose not to get close to anyone else the way she had with him. As Flower feels that she could have that with Thorfinn, Sam encourages Flower to talk to him and share her past.

Realizing that she was in the wrong, Hetty seeks out Isaac and Nigel to apologize. Hetty admits that she was jealous of Isaac and Nigel’s closeness, while Nigel admits that he may have delayed Hetty’s invite due to his own hangups. Isaac assures them both that there is enough of him to go around and then goes to summon Sam for tea. But when Isaac leaves, it is apparent that both Hetty and Nigel are out for one thing and one thing only: Isaac. The fight is on!

Taking Sam’s advice, Flower sits down with Thorfinn and lays her vulnerability about one-on-one relationships out on the table. Thorfinn is grateful that Flower shared her past with him, and reassures her that since he cannot die, he will always be there for her. Flower opens herself up to Thorfinn and they share yet another kiss, cementing their newfound relationship.

Finally sitting down to dinner at Woodstone after being blacklisted from Jay’s favorite restaurant, Sam and Jay finally get their Valentine’s meal. Sam apologizes for not putting her foot down more with the ghosts and assures Jay that she called in a favor to get a ghost-free meal. Outside the doors of the kitchen, Thorfinn stands guard as Sasappis, Alberta, and Pete try to get past him to ask Sam for favors. As the voices get louder outside the door, Sam tries to tune them out as she enjoys her meal with Jay.
