The episode opens with Sam (James Denton) helping Cassie (Catherine Bell) to clean another room that will soon turn into Nick’s (Rhys Matthew Bond) bedroom. They discuss Sam’s concerns about his son not choosing a college to go to yet. Suddenly, Cassie finds a box that contains a book with the letter “M” on the cover. When she opens it she finds an old photograph of her great-great-great grandmother and her husband that was taken under a what she calls “The Forever Tree.” Apparently, they both carved their initials inside a heart on the trunk as a way to preserve their love forever. When Sam asks her where is the location of the tree Cassie just mentions that she doesn’t know, but she is sure that when the time is right that it will reveal itself.

In the meantime, Abigail (Sarah Power) and Stephanie (Kylee Evans) are trying to get everything ready for Cassie and Sam’s wedding as they discuss their personal love life and demeanors. They are interrupted by Martha (Catherine Disher) who is explicitly asking Abigail to get her job as a mayor back as she feels there is nothing that she can do with her time off. Cassie shows up and intends to remind her that she doesn’t need to be mayor to be Martha and also takes the opportunity to offer her a job at her store Bell, Book & Candle.

On the other side of town Sam tries to talk to Nick in order to figure out his thoughts about college, but the young man doesn’t seem to be so comfortable with it. Sam lets him know that if he thinks he is bothering him with the same questions he should wait until his grandparents arrive. Cassie walks in and asks him to go to the stables to grab a ladder for her. Sam is surprised as to what Cassie is up to, but he decides to slip it away.

Nick heads over to the stables and meets with a girl named Lyndsay (Madison Cheeatow). The girl refers to her horse as “Starfire,” which happens to be a character of a video game that both of them like. The girl tries to show him a white horse that is outside the stables and tells him that the horse does not allow anyone to get close to him. Nick decides to leave and suddenly Grace (Bailee Madison) shows up from the side of the stables. She manages her way to the horse that actually allows her to touch him. Lyndsay sees what Grace is doing and out of fear that something happens to her she yells her to stay, causing the horse to startle. Sam also shows up and tries to protect the girl.

Back at Cassie’s house she is surprised to find that Vincent (Gianpaolo Venuta), her estranged foster brother, has shown up for the weeding. She introduces him to Sam, who doesn’t seem to be happy about the visit. However, he makes sure not to mention anything. Grace, Nick, Cassie and Sam are gathered together in the living room and opening the gifts he had brought to them. The tension can be felt as every sentence that comes from Vincent’s mouth as it is sarcastically criticized by Sam. At some point the doctor cannot bear it anymore, so he excuses himself from the conversation but is followed by Cassie. She questions him about his sudden departing and he explains that he has seen her pain and disappointment from the past years while she waited for him to show up. He doesn’t want to see her hurt again, but Cassie asks her to give him a chance. Later on, Sam and Cassie are discussing about her meeting his parents when they show up and look very happy to meet the woman their son is soon to be married with.

Abigail and Grace pay a visit to Stephanie in order for her to show them the groom and bride wedding cake topper. Unfortunately, it seems that Cassie doesn’t look anything like her but the blonde promises to fix it. Abigail says that she just got a call saying that the flowers didn’t make it to the truck and right then Martha walks in saying that she is an expert on damage control. She promises with just a few calls she will solve the problem, but Abigail assures that she doesn’t need her help.

Sam, Nick and his dad are at the tailor’s shop getting their suits tailored when he tells them about wanting to go and find The Forever tree. They also discuss about Nick’s future career plans and his grandad advises him to do whatever his heart desires and also gives him a few tips about dating when the boy mentions that he’s interested in a girl called Lyndsay.

Grace shows Cassie her maid of honor dress and the woman is delighted by it. Suddenly, Stephanie and Abigail show up and it turns out that they both have chosen the same dress so now they’re debating on who needs to get a new one. Later on, Cassie meets with Vincent and brings a stuffed animal with her that she had given a while ago to keep him company, but he returned it so she would remember him by.

Stephanie walks in Cassie’s store and Martha attempts to figure out what she needs. Instead, Stephanie tells her that she wants some information about the new hospital chaplain named Adam (Scott Cavalheiro) and the woman confirms that as far as she is concerned he’s single and quite the catch. Sam goes to George (Peter MacNeill) and asks if he knows anything about The Forever Tree, but despite the information he can offer it seems to be an impossible task to achieve.

Nick meets up with Lyndsay again to ask her out on a date. She shows him how to brush a horse hair and when she asks him what he needed her for he decides to step back and not to say what he truly wanted to.

Abigail meets with Cassie to show her the mock up bouquet for her wedding and they joke about how Cassie will be sending the bouquet intentionally in her direction. Cassie assures her that she shouldn’t be worried as she could find love just outside her door. When Abigail leaves, she suddenly meets with Donovan (Marc Bendavid) who is making a lot of noise with his motorcycle. The woman tries to make him stop, but he is having none of it.

Grace is doing making some souvenirs for her mom’s wedding, but she accidentally drops them. When she tries to pick them up, she suddenly sees a drawing of herself and her dad on the wall and gets sad about it. Later that day she meets with Vincent for a coffee and he can tell that she has been missing her dad.

Adam pays a visit to Stephanie at her Bistro and she attempts to flirt a bit with him but ends up spilling the water over the counter. George shows Sam an old map of Middleton and tells him where he could possibly find The Forever Tree. Vincent is passing by and he decides to join to the new adventure much to Sam’s dismay.

Grace and Nick have a conversation about Lyndsay and he confesses that he lied to the girl by saying that he had already applied for some colleges. She advises him to be honest with her. Sam and Vincent are in the woods looking for the tree and they have a conversation that helps Sam to understand Vincent better and not to judge him. Abigail confesses to Cassie that she would like to resign as an interim mayor, but she won’t give Martha the satisfaction of doing it.

Abigail arrives at her shop and realizes that Martha hasn’t been able to sell a single flower. While there the woman receives a call asking for help, but she responds that she cannot help them and leave.

Sam and Cassie are looking at old photos of themselves to use at the wedding when his parents walk in. They don’t seem to be alright with one another. When Sam’s dad asks for a paper that he could use to avoid spilling the painting he is planning to use over the place, Cassie tells him that he can get one from the recycling bin outside. When he does, Sam’s mother sees an announcement of a fireflies show and Cassie suggests that she should go and see them. Sam agrees and asks his father to take her.

Abigail arrives to her office to meet with Mayor Davenport and sees Donovan there. He mocks her about her earlier behavior towards him and asks him to allow Martha to become a citizen of Middleton again. Sadly, he refuses as he sees her as a strong opponent, which is completely different to what he thinks of Abigail. The woman gets offended and decides to not to give up that easily.

Sam overhears a phone conversation of Vincent where he sounds concerned about a contract. He tries to make sure everything is ok, but Vincent won’t say a thing.

Cassie’s dress arrives and Grace is so excited to see it. Before they open the bag, Cassie’s gesture shifts as she is concerned about something. As they open the bag, they realize that part of the dress has been eaten by moths.
