We open with Michaela (Aja Naomi King) after her steamy night and morning with Gabriel (Rome Flynn). She gets a text from Annalise (Viola Davis) to stop by her apartment before class. When Michaela shows up who is waiting for her there but her birth father Solomon Vick (Ray Campbell). Michaela assumes that he is there because Annalise and Solomon are having relations, but Annalise assures her that this is strictly about her relationship with her father. After Michaela says some harsh words and storms out. Annalise and Solomon get down to the real business which is discussing a way for Solomon to pay Annalise and to help her get out of the country. He agrees to help her if she assists in mending his relationship with Micheala.

We then go to Nate (Billy Brown) on his little recon date with Tegan’s (Amirah Vann) ex-wife Cora (Mercedes Mason), but Nate isn’t as smooth as he thinks he is because Cora knows exactly who he is and what he wants. She tells him that Tegan has nothing to do with his father’s death and that he needs to go to ask Tegan herself instead of going behind her back because that will just lead him to more trouble. Tegan is at first very pissed and goes to confront Nate at his place and even fires Bonnie (Liza Weil), but she eventually tries to reconcile with Nate by offering him a wrongful death suit against the jail, the city and the governor.

Now that Bonnie has some free time she uses it to tend to Frank’s (Charlie Weber) wounds. Frank is out of the hospital and trying to recover. It’s a bit hard for him though because Annalise took away his pain medication while Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) was watching him before Bonnie got fired. She doesn’t want Frank to spill the beans on the truth about Miller that we learned last season. Bonnie finds a way to get him more pain killers and instead of spilling the beans about Miller he confesses his feelings for Bonnie and just wishes that they made good on their promise to move to Oregon many years ago before all the lies and drama started.

Annalise hears back from Solomon about her way out but he isn’t the only one she hears from. She also hears from the Castillo’s lawyer because she comes up with the bright idea to cover up some of her and the gang’s misdeeds by getting a restraining order against the Castillos to show the FBI that it is possible that they are being framed by the family. They try to use Solomon against her and call him on the stand to get him to incriminate himself but he pleads the fifth. The judge sees the kind of pain that Annalise is in and grants the restraining order. Annalise and Solomon fight over Micheala and her safety in this FBI investigation. Annalise assures him that she will be fine and that they are both big girls. She then calls the group and has them ass destroy their phones so the Castillos don’t tap them again.

Speaking of Micheala, she is still on the fence about Gabriel and Asher (Matt McGorry) and who to choose since she has never really lost feelings for Asher. She tries to convince him that his sister and mother are no good and it isn’t until a family dinner later that night when his mother (Jennifer Parsons) makes inflammatory remarks he finally realizes that she’s right. He then goes back to Michaela who kisses him.

Connor (Jack Falahee) is still trying to figure out why he was picked for the original Keating Five. Annalise tells him that she honestly doesn’t remember so he goes out searching for his own answers. This leads him to Bonnie who tells him that she’s the one who picked him. It turns out that Bonnie and Frank each got to pick a student and Frank chose Laurel because of her family and Bonnie chose Connor because of his background. It seems that Connor got a conversion therapy camp shut down as a teen and Bonnie, as a childhood trauma survivor, really wanted to be around him and get to know him. It’s a very sweet moment between the two.

Finally, we get to our flashforward which has a bloody Asher showing up on Bonnie’s doorstep. Who’s blood is it? Annalise? Someone else? I’m excited to see how all the pieces fit together!
