Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) agent tells her that her book is amazing, but needs more violence because Jane made the ending very happy hearted. Little does the agent know Jane’s book is based on the kidnapping of Mateo (Elias Janssen) when he was a baby. She suggests an ending that keeps Jane up all night, that possibly the villain, a.k.a. Rose (Bridget Regan), swapped out the baby before returning it.

Rafael (Justin Baldoni) tries to calm Jane down, saying Rose had no motive and it is not probable. This calms her down for the night until the next morning when she notices a birthmark on Mateo when he was in the hospital, one he doesn’t have now. She knows she needs to get a D.N.A. test to clear her mind even though she doesn’t want one.

Luisa (Yara Martinez) comes to Rafael to say goodbye, a permanent goodbye. She tells him she loves him, but this clearly means nothing to him since she is involved with Rose.

Rogelio (Jaime Camil) and River’s (Brooke Shields) pilot gets turned into a series, Rogelio is overjoyed, but River doesn’t want to accept so that she can fix her relationship with her estranged daughter, Pond.

Rogelio tries to talk to Pond, but there doesn’t seem to be anyway Rogelio can fix it. Pond is still hurt from River accepting an Emmy award and thanking pretty much everyone except for her. In a natural Rogelio way, he and River decide to recreate the night of the Emmy awards so that River can sincerely thank Pond. They set up her old room where she watched River on stage, brought in her middle school friends, and even made her put on her little girl pj’s. River whole-heartedly apologizes and the two embrace.

Jane and Rafael get the test results back, proving Mateo is their son. Jane still can’t get Rose out of her head, afraid that maybe she will come after her for publishing the story about her. Meanwhile, Alba (Ivonne Coll) isn’t okay with Jane writing about all her experiences like losing her virginity before marriage. This is a main part and sets the stage for Jane’s whole book, so now she has to rewrite the whole thing. Luckily Jorge (Alfonso DeLuca) talked to Alba and made her realize that they are free now and not undocumented anymore, meaning she doesn’t have to be so scared. She lets Jane write about her in the book.

Jane reveals to Rafael that she thinks it is time to go see Rose and confront her because Alba finally confronted Magna (Priscilla Barnes) and feels great about it. She thinks this is exactly what she needs to do to finish her book. Meanwhile, Rose has stabbed herself in jail so she can escape an ambulance into a crowd of fake Roses, the ones we saw at the end of the last episode. Officers tackle all the Roses they can find, but none are the real one.

We find out Luisa was working with the police the whole time! She brings them to exactly where Rose is and takes off her mask revealing her to be a police officer. Rose grabs Bobby (Tommy Dorfman), but it is too late and he is shot. The episode ends with Rose escaping YET AGAIN.
