Q) In comparison to “Throwback,” your new song “Crying” is a lot more somber tonally speaking, is there a particular reason you opted to go in that direction?

A) In general, I am a very emotional person, and it was more about the situation than anything that sparked the song’s tone and vulnerability. During the recording of this song, I felt so much emotion and emptiness, from a very difficult heartbreak, and I really hope the song connects with others, in the way it connects with me.

Q) Were there any moments or memories specifically that inspired this song?

A) About a year ago, I experienced one of the most difficult heartbreaks I ever went through. I was in a long-term relationship for about two years, and when it ended, I felt I lost everything. I felt like a failure and that things were not going to get better. This song came at the right time. Walking in the studio that day I had no idea but when I heard the lyrics, “I can say about a million things, I can lie a million times, but I’ll never get over you,” I knew it was for me. It was my song because it was speaking what was in my heart at the time.

Q) What kind of fan response have you been receiving to the song “Crying” so far?

A) I feel like I couldn’t ask for a better response, honestly. I have received so many messages/dm’s telling me how vulnerable this song feels to them and how it made them tear up and cry. Some of my fans have even told me this song has been helpful to them to realize they are not alone and going through heartbreak, and that it reminded them of situations they went through. Hearing this means everything to me because I always hope my supporters connect with my music as much as I do.

Q) When you finish a new song who is the first person other than yourself who gets to hear it?

A) My team is always there with me, so they hear everything first but more than that they are always there in terms of support.

Q) Is there a music video planned for “Crying?”

A) There may be. [winks]

Q) What are songs and song lyrics that make you tear up no matter how many times you’ve heard them?

A) Honestly…this is gonna sound like a cheesy answer, but my song! [laughs] I feel like nothing hits closer to home than your own song, that was created during one of the hardest points in your life. It just has so much meaning to me and is so sensitive to my heart that it brings me back to how I felt during it. Remembering how I felt during those times makes me cry for myself back then. Other than my songs though, my go to ‘cry’ song would either be “Malibu Nights,” by LANY, and most Jessie Murph songs.

Q) Who would you love to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) A few artists I would love to collaborate with are: Jessie Murph, Shawn Mendes and NF. I respect them all a lot as artists and creators. I love the vulnerability that goes into Jessie’s songs. As for Shawn, I love the tone of his voice and music stylistically and feel our sound and creative styles would mesh nicely. And with NF, the contrast between his rap music and my sound would come together nicely because he also pours his emotion and relatable lyrics into his music similarly the way that I do.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Yes, we are hoping to release my EP this fall. [winks]

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming music artists?

A) Never give up. That is the saying that I live by. There will be many obstacles that you will cross in your career, but you have to know what you want, and believe in yourself more than anybody else. Always look forward, keep chasing your goals and allow your creativity to constantly flow.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the music you make?

A) Thank you…for always supporting me and the music I create. Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of releasing my music and stories to the world, and you now give me that opportunity. Thank you for not only giving me that platform, but also loving and connecting with my music. It means so much to me that you love my song “Crying,” and I hope you find love within yourself, as I did, and always remember that you are deserving of love in every way.
