Q) What musicians and artists inspired you to become a singer?

A) That is a big question. There are so many over so many different genres to be honest. But I think my top three would be Eminem, Coldplay and Elton John.

Q) What was the inspiration behind your single “Home?”

A) The inspiration behind “Home” was a simple story of being on the road as a musician. Basically, the ups and downs that occur in a relationship when every time you leave for tour home starts to feel more and more foreign.

Q) When did the idea for “Home” begin?

A) My writing partner and producer Zoux wrote with a piano melody and chord arrangement I had come up with a few days before entering the studio. Then, we applied a storyline that both of us seemed to be going through at the same time. A very organic process of writing. Then, we finished the whole song with just piano and vocal before starting on any production. I feel if a song can stand on its own with just vocal and piano then it can stand the test of time.

Q) How long did it take you to finish the song?

A) It actually took like two years to finish the full production. I didn’t really want to rush the process just wanted to finish the project when it felt right. I’m not a big believer in rushing a project. At the end of the day it’s art, so time is relative.

Q) How do you feel that this song shows your growth as an artist?

A) I feel it shows my growth are an artist in the depth of concept and raw upfront vocal. Even though there is pop production behind it, it still mainly a lead vocal and piano with a fairly complex arrangement in comparison to most projects I take on and put out.

Q) What message would you give to someone right now who may be going through something and is listening to your music for comfort?

A) My message is simple, don’t give up. You never know how close you are to achieving your beautiful purpose in life. Everyone has ups and downs no matter who you are. But it is how you rise from the lows that makes this journey all worthwhile.

Q) Do you think music is a form of escapism for people who are going through struggles and how do you hope your music connects to fans?

A) Yes, I do think music is a form of escapism. But I don’t think it should be mindless. Great artists have a way of entertaining while still enlightening. The best find a way to blend the two without coming off to preachy. I can only hope to reach that level someday. But it can really only be judged by the listener.

Q) How important is it for you to have social media and interact with your fans?

A) It’s everything and nothing at the same time. Entertainment business wise, social media is the matrix to decide investment budgets. But in reality, it’s just a tool to shine a light on an artist message. Really, if the fans react to an artist’s social media then great, but not every artist need it for growth or awareness.

Q) You’ve worked with the likes of Calvin Harris and LMFAO. What’s been your career highlight so far?

A) I can honestly say I am super grateful each day to have been a part of some fun and successful projects. I don’t know if there is just one highlight. But I can say it’s funny watching my daughter react to my songs when my wife puts them on in the car. I’m not sure she knows it’s my voice, but I think she has an idea. Thus, it makes it the best highlight for me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) To the fans and supporters, I just say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Without you I don’t have a career. The listeners give me the best job I could ever ask for. For that a million times I say thank you, thank you, thank you. [smiles]
