Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Definitely pop with some outside influences. I love dance music, classic rock, the 80s… I think you can hear all of those things when you listen to my music.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I love Fleetwood Mac, Taylor Swift, Neil Young, Dua Lipa, Julia Michaels, Lennon Stella

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Daughter.”

A) “Daughter” is written by the amazing Jax. You might have heard of her on Tik Tok. She’s insanely talented. “Daughter” was written about moving on from a bad relationship, even a traumatizing one and hoping that one day that person will realize what they put you through. I went through a horrible, horrible breakup between high school and college. When I heard “Daughter” I felt like it was all the words I could never find perfectly put into a song.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think we all feel like at some point in our lives we’ve been done wrong. We’ve been done wrong, and we want some kind of closure, whether it be an apology or just that person admitting that how they treated you was wrong. I think this song does bring some kind of peace in the relatability that we’ve all been there.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I did the music video with one of my dear friends Joe Crognale. When Joe heard the song, he immediately had a vision for this metaphorical dream land where I’m breaking the chains that were holding me in this dark place. When he told me what he was thinking I immediately loved it and thought it was the perfect way to tell the story. We shot the whole thing in almost a weekend.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It’s all over the place and different every time if I’m being honest! I try not to focus so hard on a specific process because there’s no right or wrong way to make art. I’ve realized the more pressure I put on myself to create a certain way, the less creative I feel. I just let it flow. I usually get lyric ideas and I’ll write those down whenever I think of them.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I am not a producer by any means, but I do like to be in the room when it’s all happening. I know what I like to hear and what I don’t like. I just don’t know how to put it all together. Production is a massive portion of creating a song so I like to be as hands on as I can be and I’m still learning a lot. I hope to one day be able to produce on my own.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Maybe not in the too near future but definitely in the future. I’m about to be touring in October, which I’m very excited about and that will keep me busy until mid-November! I’m hoping to start working on an EP in 2023.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love any venue in Atlanta. Being in my hometown and singing to and with people that I grew up with is always special. Plus, there’s so many iconic venues in Atlanta. I just did Eddie’s Attic a couple weeks ago!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to work with Dua Lipa or Lennon Stella. They’re both very different from each other but at the same time I relate to their artistry so much. Both strong females in music and Leos; I love them already.

Q) We loved you on “American Idol.” What advice did you receive while on the show that you took to heart and who was it from?

A) Thank you so much!!!  And “God can only do for you what you allow him to do through you.” Lionel Richie told me that the round that I got kicked off and it really resonated with me in that moment. I think about it all the time.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It’s the universal way to connect with people now. Whether it’s someone down the street or someone in India, they can hear my music, talk to me over DMs or see my face in photos. It’s become such a great way to meet and make new fans.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you so much for having me. Thank you so much for listening. I have lots of shows coming up and more music. Follow me on Instagram to keep up with me!! I can’t wait to see you all soon ❤️
