Kissing Candice – Raise Her

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) To try and put a toe tag on “our sound,” it’s a very difficult task. The music and sound are constantly evolving, growing, maturing. It’s something we really have no control over. When it comes time to write new songs, it really just happens. We don’t sit and say, “Let’s sound like this” or “Let’s write a song like that.” It’s more like, “Hey, I have this idea” and someone else will say, “I have this idea” and before you know it the song is taking form.  Kissing Candice’s sound is whatever it wants to be

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) For me, personally, a lot has influenced me over the year – depending on the song or the band or even the band’s stage show/ production.  But just to name a few off my head Post Malone, Marilyn Manson, angels and airwaves, ICP and slipknot. The list goes on and on.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Raise Her.”

A) Sexy, sinister, dark, evil, weird. The song is made to arouse you in every way possible.  It’s an “outside of the box” song for us and we couldn’t be happier

Q) The song depicts some dark devious acts that captivate you. How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) There’s no real message for the visuals of the song.  It’s made to please the human eye. The video is designed for you to watch it a few times and have mixed feelings each time.  Are you grossed out? Are you turned on? Are you uncomfortable? Are you curious?   We leave it up to you the viewer what you wanna take away from the video after seeing it.

Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) The songwriting process for this band doesn’t really start until the whole band is together in the studio. Dreamer writes a lot. He’s always got a loaded gun of riffs, he’s got loose skeletons of songs that he will break out.  I always have ideas, concepts, and things brewing. So, when it comes time to hit the studio and we are in the room with our producer that’s when the magic happens. Things just come together. As for the lyrics, you don’t need music. Lyrics can just from for anything. Again, Dreamer and I will bounce lyric ideas off each other. The other members may have ideas as well, so it’s like making a big pot of stew we just sit around throwing in different ingredients.

Q) How much involvement do you have in the production of your music?

A) We are very, very hands-on with everything when it comes to the music.  We all have visions of how a song should sound. So, when we are sitting with our producer, we are very attentive with everything.

Q) What can you tease about your upcoming album? Do you have a release date yet?

A) Not saying too much. We have a general idea of when we want to release it. I can say this. It will be before 2022

Q) With concerts currently on hold, what do you miss most about being on stage?

A) Everything.  Legit I miss everything about being on stage. Being on the stage for load in, set up, sound check, performing – I miss it all.

But the most thing I miss is the state of mind I get into them few minutes before hitting the stage. It’s something I can’t really put into words. But I miss it

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Spencer Charnas, Ice Nine Kills or Chris Motionless.  Motionless in White or Poppy

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) As of today, I had on some Emmure. That band is all around sick. I always revisit their music catalog. They are the kings of heavyyyyyy.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) It gives the fans a chance to see what you are doing day to day it gives them a look into your life outside of the band. You’re telling them a different story every day with pictures or videos.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) THANK YOU!!!  There’s so much meaning behind that – too much to type out – but trust me. Thank you in every way possible.
