What started as a robbery turns into something divine very quickly when Mrs. Hernandez (Lidia Porto) is held at gun point and starts praying to God only for the shadow of an angel to appear and scare the robber away. At the station, Pierce (Tom Welling) and Chloe (Lauren German) have gotten closer and started dating, much to the dismay of Lucifer (Tom Ellis). Pierce and Chloe pass each other on the stairs and end up going to the evidence closet and make out. Ella (Aimee Garcia) falls off the shelf as she knows exactly who is in the closet and encourages Chloe to get some.

Lucifer and Chloe arrive to the scene at the same time with one minor change, Pierce gets out of the car. When Lucifer asks if Pierce will be riding along with her all the time because he’s killing their banter Chloe says uncomfortably that Pierce only rode along this one time. Pierce comes over and tells Lucifer that the victim is from a well-connected family and that the big guys wants him to make sure everything goes according to plan. They go inside and meet up with Ella who informs them who the victim was and how he was the black sheep of the family because he was addicted to Heroin. Chloe and Lucifer chat with Mrs. Hernandez who tells them that she would be dead had it not been for God sending an angel. Lucifer tells her that his siblings would only chase away an appropriate time and Mrs. Hernandez tells them she has proof and that the angel took one of her angel figurines – the Gabriel figurines. When Pierce intervenes, and Chloe leads Mrs. Hernandez away, he asks Lucifer if it would be one of his siblings. Lucifer tells him that his father would only send one of his siblings to harass him not to stop a crime. As they talk Lucifer’s phone rings as he states that it’s Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) and walks away.

Lucifer meets Amenadiel at his penthouse where Amenadiel tells him he thinks they made a mistake revealing everything to Charlotte (Tricia Helfer). Lucifer points out that it was Amenadiel’s idea to begin with and asks what they will do if she tells someone else. Lucifer tells him that nothing will happen and then proceeds to ask Amenadiel if he knows if one of their siblings are in town. Amenadiel says no and Lucifer tells him what happened at the crime scene. Amenadiel tells Lucifer it would have to be one very messed up and confused angel. Lucifer turns and kicks something on the floor only to notice it was the figurine that was missing from Mrs. Hernandez’s house.

Lucifer takes the figurine and goes to see Linda (Rachael Harris) who points out that he’s been complaining about weird dreams, including the one where he couldn’t control his wings. She tells him there has been cases of people sleep walking when dealing with stressful situations and asks if there’s something like Pierce and Chloe dating that would case him to sleep fly. Lucifer laughs it off telling her that he’s not the angel who “saved” Mrs. Hernandez and tells her he’s going to prove it. Meanwhile, Chloe and Pierce are “chilling” at her apartment when she notices the time and tells him he has to go before Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) gets home. This leads them to discuss that he is the first guy she’s dated since divorcing Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and how she wants to ease Trixie into it. Chloe gets a text from Lucifer and heads to the station. When there he tells her they need to find the killer because it’s of importance to him now and that he needs to prove that it isn’t him. They head to the rehabilitation center to talk with the guy that the victim got into it with before he was released.

When they arrive, they find Phil Goldstein (Jason E. Kelley) getting a massage. He tells them that he knows he doesn’t have to say anything without a lawyer and starts to walk away. Lucifer grabs him by the robe and hangs him over the edge of the balcony. Phil starts talking and tells them that he didn’t kill Kevin, but he did get into a fight with him because Kevin took everything so serious while the rest of them used the center as a smoke screen. Kevin would go on and on about getting clean and getting his family back. Chloe asks where he was last night as Lucifer forces Phil to reveal he was with hookers which is why he was at the center because he was a sex addict. Chloe forces Lucifer to go home and rest as he takes her cuffs and chains himself to a cement brick to make sure he doesn’t sleep fly. He is awakened by Amenadiel who stops by to show him the headline of the morning’s newspaper where the Angel of San Bernardino saved a family from a house fire. Suddenly, Lucifer realizes the cuffs were cut and that he appears to be the angel everyone is talking about.

Amenadiel and Lucifer go back and forth on how God is making Lucifer do angelic things because they talked to Charlotte and Lucifer revealed his wings to her. So, now he’s punishing them. Lucifer tells Amenadiel that their father making him do all these things is a “divine kick in the nuts for me,” which gets Amenadiel thinking that his punishment is forthcoming. They pace as Lucifer tells them that they are not being punished, just like they weren’t punished when he revealed himself to Linda. At the station, Pierce is on the phone with Chloe as Ella comes in telling him that it’s totally adorable as Pierce tells her that he thinks Chloe is holding back. Ella points out that Chloe hasn’t said the magic words and that when the time is right she will and everything will change. Charlotte, on the other hand, comes into the station and is very rude to everyone (except Ella). She is seemingly back to her old self instead of the new Charlotte everyone has grown to like. When she gets to Dan she tells him that he is coming with her and pulls him out of the station.

Chloe and Lucifer meet with Mary Bell (Katherine Boecher) who tells them that she and Kevin were going to get married after she fell pregnant with Jackson (Kue Lawrence), but she called it off. When asked about the assault charges she informs them that she did her share of drugs with Kevin and that she’s not proud of who she was back then. She tells them that every time Kevin would call she would hand the phone to Jeremy Bell (Brandon Barash) who explains that the last time they spoke Kevin said he owed someone a lot of money. Charlotte and Dan are getting tipsy at the bar. As she goes for another round, he stops her and tells her that he can’t show back up to work hammered. She tells Dan to go into the closet, take his clothes off and that she’ll meet him when she freshens up. Before she can get to him a man opens it and tells Dan that he’s calling the police. Dan tells him not to do it and that he is the police. At the station, Chloe tells Lucifer to go home and sleep, which he tells her that if he is the angel then when he goes to sleep he may start helping again. She gives him the bright idea to not sleep, which leads him into doing drugs, sex, alcohol and doing everything he can to stay awake including watching episodes of “Bones.”

Chloe and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) talk over the phone about how Maze is willing to take them talking again at whatever pace Chloe sets for them. When they hang up Lucifer comes in scaring Chloe and telling her he got her text. Chloe asks where he’s been all week, shocking him when he asks if it’s been a week. He sits down and calls her Booth and tells her that he’s watched all twelve seasons of “Bones” and that it’s like watching a documentary of them. Chloe tries to bring them back to the case and show him the security footage of Kevin and Matt Kessman (Scott Rinker). Lucifer tells Chloe that he’s seen the man before and that he’s certain he’s the killer. They confront him in the garage when Chloe asks Lucifer if he’s talking about an episode of “Bones.” Matt tells him that the role on “Bones” wasn’t easy and that he was hired to play the Best Man with Kevin as his dealer. Pierce goes home and finds Maze who asks if he’s ready for her to kill him yet. He says for her to stop asking and he’ll let her know when it is. She tells Pierce that Chloe will be the one hurt when Pierce leaves because they’ve gotten so close. Pierce tells Maze he doesn’t care who he has to hurt.

The lack of sleep starts to wear on Lucifer as he yells at Chloe in the middle of the station, she leads him to an interrogation room where she tells him she’s had it. Lucifer tells her she wouldn’t understand because his wings are back and that his father making him do things he would never do. He tells her that it’s either that or Linda was right and he’s still not okay with her and Pierce. Lucifer tells her who Pierce really is, knowing Chloe wouldn’t believe a word he is saying. Chloe tells him what she knows about Pierce and that she’s happy with him nearly saying she loves him and walks out. Amenadiel shows up at Charlotte’s office where a jeweler is offering her a diamond necklace and asks if they can talk. Amenadiel and Charlotte talk about how Dan is worried about her and about how neither he or Lucifer have the power to get people into Heaven. He says that all that matters is who she truly is, so he tells Amenadiel that she can’t change and that there is no hope for her. Trixie is looking at the site Chloe has pulled up on her computer and tells her that if Chloe is ever mean to her she can just go on there and order a new one. Chloe tells Trixie about how she really likes Pierce and that it’s really important that Trixie knows that. Chloe discovers Jeremy Bell in one of the agency’s photos. At Jeremy’s house, he’s creeping downstairs calling out if anyone is there when Lucifer turns on a light asking him if he’s having trouble sleeping.

Lucifer and Jeremy talk about how Jeremy used to be an actor and how Mary, who was afraid she’d never fit back in, hired Jeremy to play husband and father. Jeremy starts admitting things to Lucifer and tells him that he’s not going to let Lucifer ruin things for him either. Jeremy tells Lucifer that he took the figurine because it had his prints on it and Mrs. Hernandez saw the shadow of the angel wings. Chloe arrives at the Bell house to find Jeremy on the floor who starts admitting his guilt to Chloe. At the pent house, Lucifer is trying to find the angel figurine when Maze comes in asking what he’s doing. Lucifer starts telling Maze that Pierce is the one behind everything. Maze pours him a drink when he starts to question why she is there. She admits that this is all her idea. She tells Lucifer she planted the figurine by his bed and that her neck still hurts from the wings she used to save the family from the fire. He realizes that Maze is stalling him and rushes to Chloe. Pierce shows up at Chloe’s house with a six pack and chocolate cake for Trixie as a bribe. Unfortunately, Chloe tells him she’s at a birthday party. They talk about how he can spend the night and when she’s about to say the three magic words Pierce stops her and tells her he can’t do it and leaves. Lucifer shows up to Trixie opening the door revealing an upset Chloe on the couch and he leaves to beat up Pierce. Just then it’s revealed his mark is gone.
