Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) My sound moving forward will only become more experimental! Right now, in my first few steps into this career, I’m just flowing and moving from my heart space.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Björk, Tchaikovsky, Hans Zimmer, Lana del Rey and Beyoncé

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Calavera.”

A) The song is about releasing what no longer serves you! It doesn’t only pertain to relationships, but also to limiting beliefs, habits and situations that don’t strengthen us

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it

A) The video reflects on stepping back into your power after having a bad experience with someone you cared for. It walks through that realization that your vision was blurred to what was real and important.

Q) The song came out on Dia de Muertos. Why was that such an important day for you to release it?

A) This song came out on October 21st, super close to Day of the Dead actually by coincidence! That day is so important to me as it’s such a beautiful way to honor those who are no longer with us and the strength that our ancestors pour onto us!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the fans connect to that feeling of losing yourself in someone at some point in time.

Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) My writing process always begins with a melody. I work around the phonics and random words that come out of my mouth as I tune in. I ask the divine what the collective needs me to create at that moment.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I usually produce most of my music. I believe having such an integral role in the process allows me to best honor my vision.

With my first two songs, I collaborated with other producers for the first time ever.

Q) You recently opened for Danny Ocean. What can fans expect from a live MAR performance?

A) Fans can hopefully expect more live shows, more music, and opportunities for us to connect in person!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’ve been listening to a lot of dancehall, Burna Boy, Wiz Kid and Oxlade.

I enjoy their sound because they help me get out of my head and back into my body. I love to dance to their music and connect to such a beautiful feeling.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I would like to express my infinite gratitude to all those who have connected with me! I’m so honored to share my work and heart with you guys and to keep on growing together. I love my fans with all my heart and can’t wait to them more of what’s in store.
