Q) Talk about the message behind your new single “Blind.”

A) I guess the message would probably be to open your eyes in a relationship and not just your heart. Even though the song speaks of being “BLIND” to so many things and finally being able to see them, it really comes down to what are you going to do with the newfound sight. We often find ourselves not knowing what to do, but at least we know exactly where things are in the relationship.

Q) What was it about this single that made you want it to be the first off your upcoming EP?

A) Right song, right time. There’s always a lot of thought that goes into what song is released first, second, last, etc., but my team just really looks at what makes the most since at that time. “Blind” just happened to be a good fit for what need to come from me at this time, but it also felt right.

Q) The song came out in December. How did you celebrate the premiere?

A) I typically celebrate every release the same way with a round of thank you’s to my team and family for always supporting me and of course just thanking God for making all of this possible. I know it’s a blessing to be able to do what I love and I’m just so grateful for all the support I have, especially from my fans.

Q) You worked with producers Viirgos on the song. How much of a say do you have though when it comes to the production aspect of your music?

A) It really just depends on the song. I’m more focused on harmonies and melodies, which often plays a hand in how the song progresses and vice versa. It’s a collaborative space when creating a song, well at least that’s my approach.

Q) What are some themes you will be exploring on your upcoming EP?

A) I feel like I’m always exploring relationships in my music, and I don’t think that’s going to change. But the approach and the sound will definitely be different. There are so many aspects to any type of relationship, so I really think I am just scratching the surface.

Q) When can fans expect it to be released and will there be a listening party?

A) A party?! OMG! I feel like it’s been forever! [laughs] I’m hoping we can finally be able to get back together again later this year for some live music. I miss it.

Q) How do you usually shake off a long day in the recording studio?

A) Honestly, there’s not really anything to shake off. I could spend forever creating and working on music. I mean some sessions are more emotionally draining than others depending on the song, and even in that I love it. But when I do break from the creative process, I just enjoy being with my family and having some good food. A girl’s got to eat.

Q) With concerts having been on hold, what have you missed most about being on stage?

A) Performing live is the best part of this whole process, so I feel like I’m in an incomplete relationship with my music and fans. I just want to musically tell my stories with a live audience who is just as engage in them as I am.

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming musicians?

A) Never ever give up. Success looks different for everyone, but so does happiness. And if your music makes you happy, never give that up. Find a way to do it and trust the process, nothing happens overnight, and slow movement is better than no movement.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of the music that you make?

A) I literally wouldn’t be able to do this without you, so THANK YOU!
