Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I pull from country roots, but definitely add a South Florida pop flair to every song I touch! I love the story telling aspect of country music and strong driving melodies of pop songs, so I consider myself a blend of the two. I love to incorporate acoustic instruments lately as well, so I feel like I’m a blend of both.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I love Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini. I also love finding new songs to jam to on Spotify playlists, so I’m constantly switching up my favorites!

Q) You’re an author, philanthropist and a social influencer. What made you want to add musician to the list?

A) I actually started out in music. I’ve always had a passion for creating and performing, so it’s been a huge part of my life since I was young. When I started to take music more seriously as the age of ten, I began traveling to Nashville from South Florida where I began working as a recording artist. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to move to music city where I’m totally submerged in the industry! I feel super blessed to be able to release music and share my journey and dreams with the #safannah army. It’s an incredible path to be on.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “If You Can.”

A) During my most recent trip to LA, I had a writing session scheduled with Andrew Lane. The night before the session he sent me the track we’d be writing to for inspiration and I was so excited about the music that I decided to get started early. I had the entire song done in twenty minutes.

I loved the concept of a whirlwind relationship and falling in love quickly. I came up with the “catch me if you can” hook to encompass the feeling of falling for someone fast and hoping that they feel the same way. I brought it to Andrew the next morning and he loved it!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think that almost everyone knows what it’s like to fall for someone fast! Hoping that a relationship will work out can be both scary and exciting, so I think that the feeling of that came across in the overall message and production.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I normally start with a line or hook and write the melody and lyrics around that!
I loved learning to write and tell stories through music at a young age, so I apply that when I write. I also think about my life experiences and how to incorporate real world examples that will show listeners more of myself. It’s definitely a magical process and before I know it, a song is done!

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) Working collaboratively with producers is one of my favorite things! Seeing’s song come to life in production is like magic. I’ve loved learning how to communicate my vision to the producers that I worked with and being able to watch them put it all together.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I can’t say a ton yet, but #safannahs can definitely expect a ton of new music soon!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) It’s always an honor to perform anywhere in Nashville. I feel like I’m always surrounded by such talented people in my city, so sharing a stage with absolutely anyone here is amazing. I also love visiting my hometown in Florida and singing our National Anthem for local teams because it takes me back to my start in music.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I have so many, but Taylor Swift is definitely my top choice! I’ve grown up listening to her, so she’s a huge influence of mine.

Q) Your book Sincerely: YOU is wonderfully inspirational. What are a few tips you can give our readers to start their own movements and service projects?

A) Thank you so much! Any type of positive change can start just with one person. No matter who you are, YOU have the power to make a difference. My 501c3 started with just one letter to a soldier and we’ve now sent over 350,000 to military members deployed globally. You never know what one act of kindness can turn into!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I am so grateful for my supporters, so I love being able to interact with them every day on social media. It’s also my favorite way to keep people updated on my life! I want them to feel like a part of the journey because their support means everything to me.
