SC Undercover – Sex Me Like U Want 2

Q) How would you describe your music?

A) I would describe it as a mix of Pop Indie and R&B.

Q) What is your song writing process?

A) It really does vary, to be honest. Sometimes I just have random moments of inspiration and have a full set of lyrics ready to go. Other times I will sit at the piano and just start going with a vibe and write from there.

Q) What was the inspiration behind your new single “Sex Me Like U Want 2″ and where did the idea for the song first come to you?

A) You know, I can’t pinpoint the exact time but I was just listening to a lot of Bowie, George Michael and Prince and was like, “I would love to try something out of my comfort zone, like this.” I had an idea in place, worked out some chords on the piano and the lyrics were there. It’s not the most well written song, by any means, but I wanted to focus on making it more of a feeling than a detailed lyrical song if that makes sense.

Q) How did the process of writing “Sex Me Like U Want 2” compare to other singles you’ve written in the past?

A) It was definitely more about the energy and the feeling. Most, in fact nearly all, of my previous records were written when I was feeling pretty low. This was the opposite. I was writing it in the mind of a character that I portray in the song.

Q) What is the biggest takeaway that you hope listeners get from this song?

A) There isn’t one really. I just hope people enjoy hearing something different to my usual stuff.

Q) How has the lockdown impacted you creatively?

A) Well, it’s not being able to do any live shows, which is really tough for so many musicians right now. But apart from that it’s just been the same in terms of creating new music if I’m honest.

 

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Wow! The list goes on I mean the Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, Coldplay, Prince…I could list so many!

 

Q) Who would you love to collaborate with on a future project? 

A) You know, I would probably say Lana Del Rey or Kendrick [Lamar].

 

Q) With lockdown currently putting concerts on hold, do you have any plans for live streaming performances?

A) No, not right now. My anxiety went through the roof last time I did a live stream in the Summer. It’s something I need to overcome.

Q) Is there a full album or EP in the works and if so, what can you tell us about it?

A) It was my intention to complete a full project, but with things being a little more difficult at the moment it probably won’t happen. I have a couple more singles already done to release then will see how things play out.
