Vic (Barrett Doss) is having her morning run when she crosses with another runner and they suddenly begin to race each other. The woman manages to beat him to the finish line and they share a flirtatious moment while introducing each other. It turns out the man is Theo Ruiz (Carlos Miranda), a firefighter at House 23.  They talk a little more before they part ways and agree to meet the next day.

Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) is surprised to see Carina’s (Stefania Spampinato) cheese and homemade pasta drying in the kitchen. Maya (Danielle Savre) explains that by doing that Carina feels closer to home, but it seems that for the fire fighter things are escalating very quickly and she just doesn’t know what to do about it. The doctor walks into the kitchen and is excited to see that Andy has taken some interest in her food, so she takes some time to explain about the dish she is making. A few minutes after Andy hurries Maya up to leave and the firefighter says goodbye to her girlfriend with an “I love you.”

Travis (Jay Hayden) tells Warren (Jason George) and Vic that he would find it very hard to treat Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe) as a probie when he was their Battalion Chief not so long ago. Jack (Grey Damon) enters carrying a box full of new customized “19” masks and delivers them to the team. Miller (Okieriete Onaodowan), Jack and Travis play pretend like Mortal Combat, but Vic tells them that they just look like Charlie’s Angels. Andy meets with Sullivan at the station and they discuss on how hard it would be to stay away from each other while they are working in the same space but agree to keep it professional. Later that day Maya announces the “new probie” Sullivan to the team. He takes some time to thank them for having his back and appreciates the support they have given him all along. Maya announces that they must be having a “COVID cleaning party” and assigns tasks to everyone in the team. Right that moment Jack gets a message and requests Maya for an an ambulence saying that it seems that Marsha (Jayne Taini) has collapsed. The captain asks Warren to go with him.

Travis facetimes his mom (Jeanne Sakata) and is surprised to see her in her car. The woman explains that she was cooking some spicy tofu and needed some ingredients so she decided to go to the supermarket. Travis gets mad that she didn’t ask him to do it for her and stayed home as he requested, but Nari explains that since her husband is allowed to go outside to play golf she figured out that she’s allowed to do the same. Jack and Warren arrive to Masha’s apartment and find her lying on the floor next to Marcus (Ansel Sluyter-Obidos) who is concerned about the woman’s condition. They take her to the hospital and meet with Owen (Kevin McKidd) who decides to take Marsha to the COVID 19 ward since she seems to have all the symptoms and will keep her there until her tests results are ready. Warren asks Owen to test Jack and Marcus since they have been in contact with her. Although the doctor is not convinced about it, he ultimately agrees. He asks a guy nearby to help them with the tests and it turns out to be none other than Emmett (Lachlan Buchanan) who explains that he offered himself as a volunteer.

Sullivan is moping the floor when he sees Travis smacking a recliner with a rug and stops to ask him if he is doing alright, but the other man decides not to say a thing about what he is feeling. Miller seems to be upset with Sullivan to judge by the way he is treating him, but does not say anything about it. Warren arrives and updates the team about Marsha’s situation. Right that moment an ambulance is requested. Travis and Vic head to the location. While on their way Travis tells Vic about the situation with his father and confesses that he is sure he is not out there golfing. The woman suggests him to tell his mom the truth, but he just doesn’t know how to. They arrive to their destination and see a pregnant woman named Gina (Nicole LaLiberte) throwing and destroying things with a baseball bat. They try to reach her and convince her to wear a mask, but the woman threatens with beating them as well. Vic calls for backup at the station. Travis sees that the woman has been drinking and smoking and when he tries to reach for her she punches him in the nose making him bleed. It seems that inside the house is Gina’s husband who has been injured in the head by her. Warren gets there and along with Vic they enter the house and find Gina’s husband Eddie (Ryan Dorsey) looking at himself in the mirror with a needle hanging from his head and bleeding. They see what it seems to be crack or meth in the table while the man cries and rants about his wife. In the meantime, Maya and Andy arrive and try to help Gina but the woman almost punches them.

Back at the hospital Jack and Marcus get tested while Emmett tells them that he can fast track the results for them. Over at Gina’s house Maya says that she had called the police, but apparently it is sort of a habit that Gina and Eddie behave like that. Therefore, the police are already tired of them. Gina begins to contradict, but refuses to be assisted by Maya. Gina starts saying that no one will take this baby away from her as they did with her other two. Eddie hears her screaming and tries to go to her, but Warren and Vic don’t let him.

Back at the station Sullivan tries to understand why Miller is so mad at him and the man ends up saying that for people like them is twice as hard to get to the level where Sullivan was and he just wasted it all and he doesn’t has time for his excuses.

Maya and Travis have managed to take Gina to her garage and they request for clean blankets and a gurney since the woman’s water has just broken. The woman begins to push and suddenly Maya finds herself with a newborn girl in her hands. Eddie hears Gina screaming his name again, so he pushes Warren and escapes. Vic goes after him and when he gets to the garage she tries to stop him from getting closer to the baby and he punches her in the face.

Inara (Colleen Foy) meets with Jack who lets her know about Marsha’s current state. The woman is afraid that Marsha might die and if that happens she and her son would be left without a home. Jack tries to soothe her and tells her that won’t happen, but if it did they both can move in with him.

The police have arrived to Gina’s house and, while she is taken to the hospital, Eddie will be taken to jail for punching the firefighters. While Andy and Travis take Gina to the hospital Andy sings a lullaby to the baby girl and confesses to Travis that recently she has been very mad at her parents for the lies and the pain inflicted on her. She goes on to say that looking at the baby gets her thinking about the chances she may have given the parents she has and believes that her own parents did whatever they could to keep her safe and she finally understands it.

The team arrive at the station and get Miller up to date about what just happened. Miller and Warren meet at the showers and the doctor tells the firefighter to go easy on Sullivan, but Miller isn’t interested. Maya is stacking hoses when Andy enters the room and knows that something is not right with her friend. She believes that being faced with Gina’s situation has reminded Maya of her difficult childhood, but the woman says that even though it was not healthy her situation at home was different. She confesses that in order to protect herself form her father she believes she has turned into an exact copy of him. She goes on to tell a story that happened back on her thirteenth birthday party and says that she is afraid that all of that anger she has piled up over the years would explode anytime and ruin her relationship with Carina. Andy tells her that just the fact that she is afraid of becoming into her father is the first step to not end up like him.

Warren pays a visit to Jack and tells him that Marsha has tested positive for COVID, but he and Marcus hasn’t. He also hands him a new set of masks that would allow Marcus to be able to read other people’s lips while wearing a mask and Jack is very grateful for the gesture.

Travis is still upset about Gina’s situation and says that it is unfair that since they are a Christian family it would only take for them to confess their sins to be forgiven, even though they have been violent, cruel and abused their kids. For him, there won’t be any chance of redemption just for who he is and who he loves. Miller and Sullivan meet at the station gym and they have a confrontation where Sullivan says that after his wife died he was sent to a small station in Montana where he was the only black man of the team and had to put up with all kinds of racial jokes. And now, with the way Miller is treating him, it feels just the same for him.

Jack, Inara and Marcus videocall Marsha who asks them to take care of her plants. Jack suggests to Inara that maybe he should stay with them at least while Marsha recovers. Sullivan and Andy meet at the showers and it seems so hard for them to keep away from each other, but they manage to do it. Maya enters her apartment and tries to kiss Carina, but the woman doesn’t let her go near her until she showers. Maya gets mad and questions her about making a cheese cellar out of their kitchen. Carina explains that it reminds her of the good things of Italy and also serves to keep her mind away from knowing that she cannot be with her father and take care of him. She says that she has to get ready to bring more babies into this terrifying world and Maya confesses that she just did that at work. Carina asks her to tell her everything and Maya agrees but just after they shower together and ends up dragging Carina into the bathroom with her.

Travis goes to her parents’ house and sees his father walking the dog. He stops him and recites a passage of The Bible to him. Then, he says that he saw his profile, but he is too tired to have that conversation at the moment. For now, all he wants is to go get some spicy tofu.
