Dean (Jensen Ackles) fights a giant green plush dinosaur. Soon, Sam (Jared Padalecki) joins the battle. Dean pours holy oil on the creature and orders his brother to move. The plush dinosaur screams and goes up in flames. All that is left is its charred head and stuffing. “Is it over?” Alan, the store owner asks. “Yeah, sorry about the mess,” Sam answers. “You boys just took down an evil plushy that was trying to kill me, we’re all good,” Alan assures. A man named Jay (Peter New) asks Alan whether everything is okay because he heard the noise from next door. Jay notices the destroyed plush dinosaur on the floor.  Sam lies that the defective batteries caused the plush dinosaur to explode. Alan introduces Sam and Dean to Jay who he calls “the big man around here” because Jay owns everything in town.  Sam pulls Dean aside so they can talk about how they rolled into town because people were talking about seeing a giant lizard monster. They never expected that they’d be killing Barney, which Dean calls satisfying. Barney may have used to sing “I love you,” but it’s obvious the feeling wasn’t mutual as far as Dean is concern. The brothers wonder whether it may have been a cursed object, but Sam and Dean rule that theory out because the thing didn’t act like a cursed object. Jay approaches them and asks the Winchesters whether everything is alright. It’s weird that Sam and Dean were talking about monster and cursed objects not far from the man’s earshot.  Before Sam and Dean leave, Alan again thanks them for saving his life and as a reward, tells them that anything they want in the store is theirs. Soon, Sam and Dean are carrying out a large television. “Take it easy, she’s delicate,” Dean tells Sam.

Back at the Men of Letters bunker, Sam is doing research but can’t find anything on a cursed object that attacks people. “Dude be like Elsa, let it go,” Dean says. He tells Sam that he needs to show him something important then brings his younger brother to a room where their newly acquired television is set up. “Behold, the Dean Cave. Or Fortress of Dean-olitude. I’m still trying to figure that out.” The room has a fooseball machine, jukebox with all vinyls, double Lazyboy recliners. “And of course, the bar,” Dean tells Sam. “When did you have time to do all this?” Sam asks Dean. “When it’s important, you make time,” Dean answers, then grabs the remote to turn on the television with much fanfare. A strange purple light comes from the television zapping Sam and Dean inside! “What just happened?” Sam asks. But the Winchesters aren’t the same and exclaim when they look at each other. “You’re a cartoon. I’m cartoon!” Sam thinks it’s a dream. But Dean slaps cartoon Sam across the face to prove it’s not a dream. They speculate whether it’s an angel thing or The Trickster but quickly rule out both theories.  “How did the car get here?” Sam asks when he sees cartoon Impala. “Seriously, that’s what’s bumming you out?” Dean comments. Okay, they’re animated but this is a case and they’ll work it same as they always do. “We drive,” Dean tells Sam.  They arrive at a malt shop where Dean tells Sam they’ll ask around and “See what we can see.”  The first thing they see is The Mystery Machine and make a revelation. “We’re not just in any cartoon,” Dean tells Sam. “We’re in Scooby Doo,” says Sam. They go inside. Dean is excited to see The Scooby gang. “Great so we’re stuck in a cartoon with a talking dog,” Sam says annoyed. “Not just any talking dog. THE talking door, the greatest talking dog in history,” Dean exclaims, totally getting his cartoon geek on, “Dibs on Daphne.” Dean says that hanging out with the Scooby Gang is like a true come. He remembers how growing up on the road there was always a television and what was always on was Scooby Doo. Dean says the Scooby Gang are their role models; they do what they do, fight ghosts. Sam reminds that their ghosts aren’t the same and they don’t have a talking dog. Dean thinks that Cas (Misha Collins) is kind of like a talking dog. They go over to the booth where the Scooby gang are sitting and Dean introduces himself and Sam and asks if they can join the Scooby Gang. Fred (voice Frank Welker) says sure because there’s plenty of room. He introduces Velma (voice Kate Micucci), Shaggy (voice Matthew Lilliard) and Scooby (also Welker). But Daphne (voice Grey DeLisle) needs no introduction for Dean, who immediately turns on the charm. Sam and Dean learn that the Scooby Gang is celebrating because Scooby was just named beneficiary of a wealthy southern gentleman when the wonder dog once saved from drowning in a fishbowl. Sam pulls Dean aside. He can’t believe that his brother would rather hang out with Marmaduke than try to figure a way out of cartoon land. Dean reminds that the last time they were in tv land the only way they were able to escape was to play their roles. So, maybe that’s the way out now. But in the meantime, Dean thinks the Scooby Gang is gearing up for a mystery. Sure enough in classic Scooby Doo form, Fred says that he thinks this may be a mystery. And you know what that means…road food! Shaggy and Scooby quickly assemble tower sandwiches, which the jam into their mouths. Dean does the same, but his doesn’t go down so easily. “Sam, look how big my mouth is,” Dean mumbles. Sam gives him the bitch face.

When they get outside, Fred tells Sam and Dean to follow The Mystery Machine to the mansion. But Dean comments that he doesn’t think his Baby can go that slow. Dean and Fred have a race to see which car gets to the mansion first. The Impala ends up ending The Mystery Machine’s dust! Meanwhile, a man watches as The Impala pulls off to follow The Mystery Machine.

When they get to the mansion, Dean continues to accuse Fred of cheating. “A house of fright is no delight. That’s the episode we’re in,” Dean tells Sam. At the reading of the will, Attorney Cosgrove Creeps (voice Stephen Stanton) tells those assembled that his client Colonel Sanders (more bitch face from Sam) was a bit odd and his only direction was to play this record for them. On the record, Colonel Sanders tells the beneficiaries that they will each receive a share of a million dollars provided that they spend the entire night in the family mansion, which is haunted. Anyone who leaves before the night is over, his or her share is divided equally among the others. While Scooby is scared, Velma says there’s no such thing as a haunted house. “Stuff like this happens all the time, “she tells Sam. Dean stops his brother from revealing that they are in a cartoon. Dean tells Sam that the Scooby Gang is pure and innocent and he intends to keep it that way. As Dean has seen the episode like a million times and knows the lawyer Cosgrove is the villain, Sam suggests they just solve the mystery and leave. Unless Dean wants to stay to get more time with Daphne. Dean suggests he and Daphne bunk together so he can protect her from the ghost, but Daphne reminds that boys and girls don’t sleep in the same room. That means Sam and Dean are with Fred, Shaggy and Scooby.  They get ready for bed. Dean loves his night shirt. “It’s like I’m wrapped in hugs,” he tells Sam.

In another room, a ghost appears in to one of the beneficiaries. Sam, Dean, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby find the dead man, stabbed and covered in blood. “Jinkies,” says Velma. “Jeepers,” adds Daphne. “Zoink,” exclaims Shaggy. And of course, Dean’s classic “Son of a bitch.” While the Scooby Gang goes to look for evidence, Dean comments how this is not how things went down in the episode. Sam reminds Dean that they too can be killed in the cartoon. The Winchesters and Scooby Gang hear a noise outside and tackles a figure to the ground. It is Castiel. Sam and Dean introduce their friend to the Scooby Gang. Castiel is surprised by the talking dog. Castiel tells Sam and Dean how he got there: He came back from getting fruit from The Tree of Life and looked for them in the Men of Letters bunker. He found Dean’s man cave and saw them as cartoons on the television. Then, a purple light and he too was pulled into the television into the strange world. He arrived just in time to see the Impala driving off and has been trying to catch up ever since. They divide up into teams to search for clues: Dean is with Fred and Daphne, Sam is with Velma and Castiel is with Shaggy and Scooby Doo. Sam and Velma search the attic. Velma sarcastically tells Sam not to let his broad shoulders knock over any clues and Sam asks why she keeps talking about his shoulder. Velma gives him a sheepish look. Sam tells Velma that the supernatural are real.

Meanwhile, Dean asks Daphne what she sees in Fred. The phantasm appears and soon The Winchesters, The Scooby Gang and Castiel are running from room to room to the Scooby Doo theme song. But Shaggy ends up hanging from a lamp post. Castiel and Scooby Doo save Shaggy from serious injury as he falls to the ground. But he ends up getting a broken arm. Having no choice, Sam is forced to tell The Scooby Gang that ghosts are real. And Dean gives one of his famous pep talks to keep the Scooby Gang from having a nervous breakdown. Sam shows them all the Winchesters weapons in the Impala’s trunk. They then fix a trap (involving coconuts and a soapy washing machine) to catch the ghost. But Castiel, Shaggy and Scooby Doo are the ones who end up getting caught in the trap. “Fred’s traps never work,” Dean tells Sam. Operation Book Worm ends up catching the ghost. It turns out to be a little boy that Jay trapped the boy using a cursed object. The boy, who zaps Sam, Dean and Castiel back through the television and a two dimensional world. Dean breaks the television and Sam burns the pocket knife, setting the spirit free.

Alan is about to sign the store over to Jay when Sam, Dean and Castiel enter. They tell Alan how Jay has been using a ghost to scare the other store owners to sell their properties to him. Sam explains about the curse object and how Jay planted the pocket knife in the television. Sam hacked into Jay’s tax records as well. As Jay is led away by the police, he laments that he would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those meddling kids. Dean is excited that Jay said the line! Dean looks into the camera and says the Scooby line. But Castiel reminds his friend that he isn’t a talking dog. But they have to admit that he does look cool in the ascot. “Red is my color,” Dean says as the episode ends.
