Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Our sound is a nice blend between Pop, electronic and synthwave with a twist of punk rock/alternative vibe to it.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) We really enjoy The 1975, Muse, Imagine Dragons and the legendary Michael Jackson. There are a number of artists that we look up to musically!

Q) What made “Disco” the perfect follow up to your previous single “Don’t Wait?”

A) We thought that “Disco” would be the perfect follow up for our first single we released “Don’t Wait” because both songs have a powerful message that resembles the other. “Don’t Wait” focuses on self-love and not waiting for the perfect moment to finally show yourself the love you deserve. While “Disco” gives you the escape in your mind for a brief moment to just let loose to find yourself in another reality/time.

Q) The video was directed by Justin Richardson Films. How does it play into the message behind it?

A) We were lucky enough to come up with these concepts for our music videos after we recorded them. It helps having such a great team that understands our sound and vision. Our manager Michelle Brown has really stepped it up with helping co-direct the videos with Justin Richardson Films and Corey Lee from Climagesinc. Having everyone put their minds together and creative ideas/visions is what makes the songs/videos come to life.

Q) My favorite lyrics are “It’s a Disco; a place where we can run away” because I do feel like going to a disco is a form of escapism. What do you feel it is about the song that fans relate to?

A) We think that fans might relate to “Disco” because everyone is always looking for just a break in life. We all need a moment to escape for a short while – to just get away and remember who we are. Our favorite line/lyrics in the song is from the bridge: “Let’s go where we believe in magic, don’t pack a bag you can leave your baggage.”

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Our songwriting process just depends on the song. We usually start with a concept/vibe and then come up with a beat for it and from there we put lyrics to it. We don’t usually need music to write the lyrics, but sometimes we start with the music for a better flow. There are times where we have lyrics and melodies/voice memos in our phones that we turn into a song and make a beat for it.

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

D’Lannie: We both generally sit together while creating the music and the lyrics/recording. Everything is done in house and Stevie does all of the music for us. Sometimes I will give Stevie an idea or melody I’m hearing, and we both combine ideas and he will make a beat that fits the song’s vibe. We work so well together that it’s such an easy process. Stevie is such an awesome producer and mixer. I am so proud to be able to work on Telaport’s music/project with him

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) We will be releasing our full twelve song album this year 2022. The album is called Better Together, and we are very excited for the world to hear! Vibes! Vibes!

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) We love performing in our hometown. It’s where we grew up and the Dallas music scene is really cool. Ultimately, we hope to perform all around the world at big festivals and events, maybe even Madison Square Garden one day! Dream big, right!?

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) We would love to collaborate with The Weeknd, Doja Cat, The 1975, and Muse! These are just a few mainstream artists to name. We have a ton honestly.

Q) You’ve got your eyes set on filmmaking as well. Who are some directors you admire, and do you have any upcoming projects in the works?

A) We definitely do have our eyes set on filmmaking at the moment and we will continue to put (Letter to The Travelers) in between releases of our music videos/singles taking place before and after each one and teasing the concept of the time we are jumping to and from. We hope to put out our first short film after the release of our album (Better Together) focusing on telling the story of Telaport and how the characters became what they are now. We are aiming for the Sundance Film Festival and, hopefully, we will get to work with either Netflix or Hulu for a Telaport Series focusing on the characters and their stories! We have written and produced all of our concepts and scripts for the short film and Stevie scores the music for the film/video itself while D’Lannie helps with concepts musically and writes scripts/concepts/visuals. A couple of our favorite directors are Gary Ross/Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games), and Jason Rothenberg (“The 100”).

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) We feel like social media is super important to us because that is the best way for independent artists like us to put ourselves out there and connect with people. We genuinely want to help make someone’s day better and show the world our music and its message that it brings.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) We would like to thank all of our fans and supporters who have welcomed us and our music as (Telaport) into the music industry with open arms. We didn’t know what people would think of our crazy concepts and ideas as a duo, and we honestly weren’t expecting such a great reaction, we are forever grateful. Welcome to all of our new travelers! We hope to teleport you soon to a new adventure!
