Each week I’ll be picking the best drama, comedy or reality TV and sci-fi/fantasy moments from the shows of the prior week. They may sometimes be equipped with some of your favorite ships or tear-jerking moments. So, keep reading if you are still not over what happened on your favorite TV show this week!

Drama: All American, “Bring the Pain” –  Layla’s painful breaking point

After watching Layla (Greta Onieogou) struggle with depression over the past couple of episodes she finally reached a breaking point in front of a crowd. She admitted that she doesn’t have a place that she feels safe and then proceeded to blow up on her family and friends surrounding her. Onieogou displayed her range in this devastating moment. One thing that I have loved about the way All American has dealt with Layla’s depression is how they show the ups and downs of it all. The way the dialogue is written is so thoroughly thought out. In the scene at the party Layla immediately attacks everyone that tries to help her from her dad (Elvis Nolasco), Laura (Monet Mazur) and even Olivia (Samantha Logan). She attacks them with things she knows will hurt so that it will deflect from her issues. This show amazes me with its brilliant cast and writing every week. Their take on a young black female battling depression is so important for audiences to see and I am glad that it’s being handled with such care. To the All American creators, thank you for this show that continues to go above and beyond.

Comedy: Raven’s Home, “Crewed Up” –  Nia gets too deep in the dirt.

Nia (Navia Ziraili Robinson) ends up learning way more about being an environmentalist than she bargained for, but it sparked a great idea. After having being covered in dirt and compost from working with Chelsea (Anneliese van der Pol), Nia realized that she could make an indoor garden within her school. I appreciated how even though Chelsea got carried away with the project, Nia was still able to find something good in all of it. Their relationship is fun to watch because even though they’re not complete opposites, they go about getting a job done together yet in very different ways.

Sci-fi/Fantasy: Evil, “Vatican III” – An amazing possessive performance.

Annaleigh Ashford’s performance as a possessed Bridget Farrell was the moment of this week’s Evil installment. I was zoned in for every one of her scenes, but the one that I loved the most was when she had to embody multiple people possessing her body at the same time. She transitioned between those characters so well. I was actually a little freaked out by what Bridget was going through and that’s normally very hard to accomplish for me. I was highly impressed with her performance and the scene overall.
