Q) What are the recent projects you have been working on?

A) Since “Stargirl” I haven’t really been working on any new projects. I’ve been on hiatus and auditioning a lot and then the pandemic happened. During lock down, I have been working on a script of my own that I just finished up and hope to bring to the screen someday.

Q) Please tell us the premise for “Stargirl.”

A) “Stargirl” follows Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger), a high schooler, and her new blended family as they move from LA to Blue Valley and the new family dynamics. She discovers the Cosmic Staff and the Justice Society takes shape.

Q) How was Mike Dugan originally described to you?

A) In the original breakdown for Mike, he was described as a video game and film junkie. He’s a preoccupied and energetic 8th grader and he loves pop tarts!!

Q) Were you familiar with the comic at all before starring in this series?

A) I wasn’t familiar with the comic at all prior to reading for “Stargirl.” I had a crash course in the world of superheroes. I think not having any preconceived ideas going into it worked well.

Q) Who were you looking forward to sharing a scene with in particular?

A) Honestly, I was very excited to work with Luke [Wilson]. I had been a fan of his work prior to meeting him and had only heard great things about him, so I was really looking forward to playing his son.

Q) What were some of your favorite scenes or episodes to film?

A) My favorite scenes are scattered throughout the season. I can’t reveal any info about them because I don’t want to give anything away. I can tell you that the last 4 episodes are my favorite.

Q) How did you shake off a long day of shooting?

A) After a long day of shooting I would usually go back to set to watch other scenes being filmed. Because I generally do all my scenes with my “family,” it’s fun to see the other cast members do their scenes. On occasion, I’d hit golf balls with Luke outside his trailer or watch a little golf. Then, I would head home to get ready for the next day.

Q) What do you think it is about “Stargirl” that is going to make it a fast fan favorite show?

A) DC Comics and superheroes in general have a huge following and fanbase. But aside from that, the cast and storyline will be an enormous draw. The storyline balances family life with superhero excitement. It will appeal to all age groups because of the wide-ranging ages of the cast and the fanbases that they have individually. Geoff Johns is iconic in the comic book world and people know his work.

Q) You are a part of social media. Are you looking forward to the immediate fan response you’ll be receiving?

A) Great question. I haven’t thought much about it. Although I know social media is important, I’m not a huge fan. I don’t think much will change. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Q) What advice would you give to other young up and coming actors and actresses?

A) The advice would be to persevere, be patient and work very hard. Don’t get distracted by negativity and even when you’re getting rejections, take the opportunity to learn from them. My mom always told me that no matter how hard you fall, get up and realize it’s a steppingstone in life. Every obstacle is an opportunity. Don’t get discouraged.

Q) What would you like to say to fans and supporters of you and the work you do?

A) I’d like to say thank you for following me and watching this crazy ride I’m on. I hope they all connect to the show at some level.
