WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Can U Relate? is a brand new comedy web series about the little random arguments everyone seems to have in common and they almost always pop up out of nowhere. The Made for More Entertainment production puts you smack dab in the middle of every relationship’s toughest conversations. A simple misunderstanding going from bad to worse? I know I can relate.

The series’ first episode features a harmless game night that takes a sharp turn when things start getting a little too personal. As someone who has a tendency to take game nights far too seriously, I’ve crossed a few lines for the sake of a charades answer myself. The episode hit home in the most hilarious way possible, as the couple (played by Hunter Jr and Charletta Rozzell), started roasting each other back and forth. Game nights always start out fun and end in disaster, so I was hooked to the series from the start.

The second episode of Can You Relate? didn’t disappoint and if I wasn’t interested from the first, this one would’ve reeled me in. Kenny Cooper and Murray Gray expertly pull off the couple who know each other so well it almost becomes a detriment. The tension is palpable the second Gray’s character insists on Cooper’s sticking around and you know something bad is coming once he reaches for the remote.

The short three-minute episodes aren’t nearly enough for me and, thankfully, each one is paired with a behind the scenes chat with the cast, via Instagram Live, where they civilly discuss the topics their characters couldn’t help but fight about. The connection the actors were able to make with one another in a few short minutes really helps sell the series. They play off each other beautifully and you can feel the small tinge of hate just under the surface as the arguments begin to grow. The subtext is so rich, and you watch these characters walk themselves right into trouble.

There are currently only two episodes available to watch, but new episodes are released weekly with the newest set to premiere on Friday. Anyone who’s ever been in a relationship, is a fan of comedy, loves representation in their media or is just looking for a great new show needs to check out Can U Relate?
