WHY SHOULD I WATCH?

Your Two Cents is a Canadian web series made in partnership with Atlantic Credit Unions to educate and support viewers on all things financial. The series uploads frequent tips and tricks on small money goals, like developing savings accounts and the importance of budgeting as well as tackling larger financial tasks such as purchasing a house or buying or leasing a car. New episodes are posted every few days touching base on a different topic or answering viewer submitted questions.

As a young millennial in an economy that isn’t always beneficial to people in my situation, I pretty much welcome any and all financial knowledge I can get. A quick Google search doesn’t always suffice. Sometimes the information is downright horrible and other times it’s simply not realistic for me. Your Two Cents offers advice from unique perspectives and professionals that’s actually helpful. Branch managers and financial advisors from credit unions pop up throughout the series, offering guidance for first time investors, homeowners and the like. More high-profile guests also make the occasional appearance. Annie Murphy of “Schitt’s Creek” fame showed up in a short video about thrift shopping and Brooke Lynn Hytes from “Ru Paul’s Drag Race” broke down drag expenses and how to glam up without breaking the bank. From professional makeup artists to successful entrepreneurs, Your Two Cents offers a truly wide range of personal stories and suggestions almost anyone can implement for themselves.

The series is specifically aimed at twenty somethings, but I think teenagers and even older people who may be uninformed on certain avenues of finance can benefit from the series. Canadianity Content Studios welcomes questions and episode ideas from viewers, which is a great way to get the target audience involved and make sure to provide the most relevant information to everyone watching. Their goal was to fill in the gaps in financial literacy that isn’t often covered in school and they’re doing it in an informative and engaging way.
