Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as a spicy dish with a touch of sugar on top! Definitely Pop/RnB.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I have so many!!! Michael Jackson, J. Lo, Beyonce, P!NK, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Lizzo, Ariana Grande – the list goes on and on

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Thirsty.”

A) I was inspired by the idea of a man working hard to get a woman’s attention. Based on a true story, which is all about demanding respect for yourself when others don’t show you enough of it.

“Thirsty” is about showing a man who is boss and who makes the rules. I believe that a man should treat you like a queen and want to get to know you. He needs to show you respect before you decide to take another step further into that relationship.

I want this song to empower women: to set higher expectations so you’re treated the way you deserve to be treated.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think a lot of fans will connect to the lyrics with the empowering message about making someone earn your respect instead of treating you like a fun time. Where’s the chivalry these days?

Q) What makes “Thirsty” such a great end of Summer track?

A) The production is so fun and gets you in a groove. I mean, who doesn’t get “Thirsty” on a hot day, right? [winks]

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) I went with a virtual video to show the times we are living in. The video is of my friends, family and fans all having a drink. It symbolizes the year of 2020 being in quarantine, but still celebrating special moments over video calls and since it’s my first single I wanted them to all be involved in my project.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It changes all the time. I normally have a melody or lyric that comes up, I record it in my voice memos and go from there – which is normally taking my idea to a session and working with a group of writers and producers.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) I have a lot of say when it comes to production. I’m a very precise person and a little bit of a perfectionist. When creating “Thirsty,” I was in the room working with my producer Anthony the whole entire time!

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) I have enough songs for a few EP’s so I hope so! [smiles]

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love performing in Australia as it’s home and my family can be there to watch. But my favorite are big stages. I love a huge audience; it gets my adrenaline going.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Macklemore, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot, Lizzo, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Ariana Grande

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I’m still hooked on Future Nostalgia from Dua Lipa and Cuz I Love You from Lizzo. The production and melodies on Future Nostalgia is incredible and Lizzo’s able just puts me in a MOODDDD!!! I feel like a Queen every time I listen!

Q) What advice would you give to up and coming musicians on the Toronto music scene?

A) Keep writing, keep creating, keep collaborating and growing! Learn as much as you can about the industry and learn from the people that you work with. Oh, and support your music friends always! The more we help each other in the industry, the more we rise to the top together! Stay positive and do you!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is the future of connecting! Especially since COVID, everything is online. I can do shows online, express myself and share new/upcoming content and songs. I also get to actually connect with fans one on one which I love!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you so much for all the love and support! You guys are the best and I’m forever grateful. I hope you continue to follow me on my journey so we can grow together! Always stay positive and stay in your magic! You got this!
