Q) Waverly doesn’t have much of a relationship with her mother. What is it going to be like for her to see Mama Earp?

Dominique: I think this year I said to myself, “Okay. So, this year it’s going to be the chill Waverly year and we’re going to give some space for other characters.” That is not what happened. I think this year we’re very grateful.  I think this year is going to be particularly exciting for Waverly because she gets the answers she’s been waiting for.

Q) Talk about Nicole and Waverly’s relationship this season.

Dominique: I really love where Nicole (Katherine Barrell) and Waverly are this year. I feel like they are in such a comfortable and domestic place. It’s really lovely to see a normal relationship after all of the sadness and learning each other’s histories. They really know each other now and what they want from the relationship. I think what is particularly nice this season is that it’s not only Nicole that is courting Waverly and vice versa, which I’m really grateful for. It really shows you that Waverly is as valuable in that respect as Nicole is to Waverly.

Q) With Wynonna having visited their mother secretly, how will this make Waverly feel?

Dominique: Poor Waverly. I feel like I have to protect Waverly’s heart so much. I think that of course it hurts. There is no doubt about that. I think that maybe she can’t understand why (and I’m sure a lot of people can relate, especially when you are younger) that perhaps you don’t understand that people are doing things to protect you. It just seems like kind of a personal thing why they did it. But maybe an outsider can see why Wynonna cares for Waverly so deeply that she doesn’t want her to be hurt. That news in reality could be quite complicating. In the same ways as a lot of things, Waverly is so forgiving. She is one of the most forgiving people I know. I think a lot of us have a lot to learn from her. She has the most pure and beautiful heart.

Q) We’ve seen Waverly almost hanged and a limb chopped off. Does she need to be put in a bubble?

Dominique: Yeah. But that’s what I love about her – she’s always putting herself out there to protect the people she loves. Then, in the trailer she’s like “Wynonna!” I’m like, “What have you done now Wavs?!”

Q) We were talking to Shamier [Anderson] about the relationship Dolls has with Waverly. Will we see more of that as the season goes on?

Dominique: That remains to be seen.
