Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I think my sound definitely comes from Pop with many pieces of urban and R&B elements included. I’m not sure I could fit it into a specific genre, which I think makes it unique and very me!

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) When writing, I like to look at newer artists like FLETCHER, Tate McRae, Olivia O’Brien and Charlotte Lawrence. I always take into account my favorites; however, such as Demi Lovato and Amy Winehouse for some different flare to my music.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Sweet Validation.”

A) I think it really just came to be a conversation about how there is the need for some sort of validation in all of us. I recently had this whole long period of self-discovery, as cheesy as that sounds, where admitting that need for some validation was so incredibly difficult for me. It all culminated in being a part of my music.

Q) How did you and Sizzy Rocket come together to write the song?

A) Sizzy and I were introduced when I was still in high school about five or six years ago by Jake McKim and we have been writing together ever since.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think the message of the song is something that almost everyone tries to hide for much or all of their lives. The part that I think is the most relatable is when it is finally realized; we realized how messed up it is that we need this validation, but there is no way around it.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) If I am being honest, it changes with every song. I just like to write with other people so as long as the process works with whatever group or person I am writing with and me, as well, then I am all for it!

Q) Jesse Barrera lent a hand in production for this single, but how much of hand do you have when it comes to the production of your music?

A) I would love to say that I have some skill in production, but it is like another language to me. And no matter how many times I have tried to sit down and learn how to produce, it has never come close to the quality of work Jesse and other producers I know come to create.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) We’ll see!

Q) What advice would you give to other up and coming musicians?

A) Be patient! I am still learning how to do this with my music career but keep going if it is something you are passionate about and be patient with the time it takes.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) There are so many people I would absolutely love to work with. I would love to sing on a Kygo or a Gryffin song. I would also love to sit down and write a song with Julia Michaels or get in a studio with Max Martin, but those names are the biggest in the industry and, like I said, I am willing to be patient to get to that point.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Randomly, I started listening to The Band Camino and I can’t stop. Their music is super fun, and their lyrics are relatable and real. FLETCHER is also someone that I am addicted to listening to. Her music really hits me in ways that other artists have yet to do; it’s honest and straight to the point while the sound is still in tune with what is popular for the music world right now.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I think social media, like music, is a new language for us to communicate with people. It allows us to share pieces of who we are with people we may never meet or never thought we would meet. We can choose to share as much or as little as we want and recognize that there is always the person on the screen and the person off.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) It’s all about appreciation for me, so thank you for being there and for listening to my music and watching as my sound changes and as I figure out who I am in my music. I appreciate every ear that listens to even five seconds of one of my songs. It never goes unnoticed.
